Gamepad & Windows 8

Post by Hildegard »

Hi all,

I am having issues connecting the Gamepad as device under Windows 8. Both my Computers already have WIN 8 installed, however, the GP is nowhere recognized as USB device (error message: the device did not work properly, hence it was not connected as USB device). I tried finding a proper device driver for the GP, both @ the support page of Archos and via Google, but to no avail.

Anybody else having the same issues with the GP and Windows 8?

Do you have USB debugging enabled on your tablet? I did and it wouldn't connect to windows 8. But with it disabled it picked it up fine. With usb debugging enabled I couldn't get any adb drivers to work though including the ones from archos. don't think they have to device id listed yet. But unless you want to do development or root the device then it shouldn't be a problem.

Matt.

No, USB debugging is not activated. Are you using the 32b version of W8? Or the 64b version (I have 64bit installed on both computers)?

In the device manager, the device is listed as "unknown device", flagged with the yellow triangle. Searching for a driver online does not find any solution. Deinstalling the device, reconnecting it to the computer does not help, either (it will reappear in the device manager as unknow device with a conflict).

Maybe, I will take the tablet into office on Wednesday. I use a Lenovo laptop, running on W7. Probabilities are that I can successfully connect the device to this computer, however, using it at home with my own PCs would not be so bad, either :).
