I don't know if this is a software issue, but my Gamepad has a major problem with random crashes. I had never a device that needs reboots as frequently as the Gamepad. It crashes with distorted graphics (looks like the colors are off a few pixels) or with a black screen. It even crashes when not touched. I had more than one occasion where it crashed when packed away in a bag. It also crashed frequently when coming from sleep mode.
Anyone else having this problem?
Random Crashes
Re: Random Crashes
There are no such problems on my Gamepad - I have it for three days now and I didn't have distorted graphics yet.
It did crash once though while activating a live wallpaper, but otherwise it didn't need a hard reset.
The problems that I have is that my sd card gets dis-/reenabled from time to time, and the gamepad mapper sometimes restarts during gameplay,
which means that I can't use the buttons for a couple of seconds.
Archos has already announced a big update, coming in a few days, which should fix a lot of problems.
My wife has a Gamepad too - and on hers I saw the distorted graphics on three separate occasions yesterday during browsing.
And today it didn't properly woke up from sleep and needed a hard reset to restart again.
There's just one difference between our two tablets: After experimenting with ADB, I crashed my gamepad's operating system and had to do a factory reset.
I went through the setup again, and noticed that the "extra addons" were now missing, but I really don't need Angry Birds demo.
Afterwards I updated everything via Google Pay, especially the Archos Mapping Tool.
I don't know if the factory reset has prevented me from encountering the distorted graphics crash yet, but it works good enough for me now.

Re: Random Crashes
It's getting worse. My Gamepad just crashed with the distorted graphics in the bag. And it seems its drawing power from the battery or something. The screen is on when it crashes like this and when I discovered the crash, it was hot like hell. The casing was so hot on the back, you couldn't touch it. I don't want to think about what might have happened if I didn't found it...
I don't know if the pad has survived that incident. It's cooling down right now.

Re: Random Crashes
The Gamepad turns itself on when the sd card gets dis-/reenabled (once every hour or so). Are you using an sd card or did it turn itself on even without a card inserted?
Re: Random Crashes
I'll check that..currently, I have inserted a sd card.
