No sounds - except notification

Following on from my first post (http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=66642), I received a replacement 101 G9 from Archos support. Thankfully this one turned on, however I am not getting sound.

The ONLY time I can get any sound is adjusting the sounds settings changing the volume for notifications. When I change the volume for the main sound I get nothing.

When playing Angry Birds, or watching a video - there is NO sound at all. Volume is up, but not a peep.
