WiFi constantly reconnecting

After screen issues I got a new Archos 101 G9 Turbo 8G. The new device has some serious issues with my home WiFi. It connects, but as soon as there is any network activity it will disconnect, after 1-2 seconds it will reconnect but basically it means that I can't do any communication. Another WiFi AP is working just fine.

In my most extensive test I did the following: rebooted the router, turned off all other devices that use WiFi (not just their WiFi, but the devices), updated the G9 from 4.0.6 to 4.0.7 and reset it to factory default and started over fresh. Even now, I get disconnected from WiFi as soon as any traffic starts. The router log shows that the device is reconnecting every 5-10 seconds for no apparent reason.

I find it strange that the device has problems with my router's WiFi, but not with my other Access Point (which is not a router, so I can not swap the two).

Also note that the previous device is working fine with the router's WiFi (I still have it here).

Does anybody have any idea what I could do to fix this issue? This is my third faulty G9 in a row, and if this one does not work I will go get me a Nexus 7.

The problem is gone if I change my WiFi encryption from WPA2 to WPA (router: Fritz!Box 7390). Again, an identical G9 101 works just fine with WPA2. I also tested the new device with other networks and it worked well and stable - I have not checked whether they run WPA2, but I would have guessed so (including one that has the EXACT same password and ESSID, but a slightly older Fritz!Box model). Very strange.

I do NOT consider this issue solved, as I'd rather use WPA2 than WPA.
