newbie - help me compare

Hello,

I'm new to the Archos world and find it hard to get an overview of the different models.
So far I have been using the mPack 800 which I love but it has been discontinued. http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/portable-vide ... -39189491/

I am looking for a relatively small video player (not 10" tablet size) that accepts AS MANY VIDEO FORMATS / CODECS AS POSSIBLE.

- In one of the Archos specs I read that subtitles are only supported for .mkv files which I find disappointing because this would mean converting all of my .avi files ?

- 3G / wi-fi web-browsing is not a must as I will mainly use it for watching videos but it would be a welcome bonus

- stora[/list]ge capacity is also an issue as 8gb is certainly not much but as long as I can expand with an SD card then fine.

I would be so grateful to get some buying advice from you guys!! Thanks for your time.

Most any of the archos and arnovas with android can download the mx player app, which can play almost anything including subtitles. Other video app choices multiply by the day too. Maybe you can research mx video app for details of its decoding by software rather than hardware.
