My Archos G9 80 will not longer take a charge
I wanted to know, while I wait for tech support to get back to me, if anyone else had this problem before. I have owned this device for only 5 weeks and as of today, I can not get it to charge. I have tried 4 different micro usb charge cords, including the cord that came with the tablet, and all I get when I power it on is a message saying I need to plug in a charge cord and then it turns back off.
My phone also uses a micro usb port and I tested all the cords with it and they work fine. If someone else has had this experience, please let me know if I am able to fix this.

I have heard from tech support and will be sending my tablet in for repairs. The good news is that tech support was very speedy in getting back to me. Let's hope whatever is wrong with this device is covered under warranty since my tablet is only 5 weeks old.

I have the same problem. My tablet is 3 weeks old, yesterday it worked like a champ, today it won't take a charge. I sent an email to tech support and I am awaiting a reply.

I sent my tech help request through Facebook and got a response in less than an hour. I hope both of our tablets can get fixed fast.
Re: My Archos G9 80 will not longer take a charge
My 3 children bought each one archos g980 turbo and 2 of them stopped charging, I received new ones quite speedily but the replacement broke too. Now they want me to send it back again and again at my own cost. I can tell you I am not happy. Clearly it is a construction fault. I did not receive any response to my mail exept a new rma form. Total silence on why I should pay a second recall..

Re: My Archos G9 80 will not longer take a charge
Considering I just got done paying $13 to ship back something that is their fault, I would be extremely upset if the same thing happened again. I suggest going to your state Attorney General's office and filing a compliant against them if they refuse to even acknowledge your request for them to py shipping on the second return for the same error. That might get them to take notice. I had to do that to another computer company, Acer, a couple of years ago.

I wish it were only $13 but here in Norway the shipping back and forth to France comes down to nearly 80 dollars...for a clear construction fault..

Can you call them then? I know there is a phone number to France on their site, it does not go to customer service but I would start there and maybe you can find someone to give you an answer.

I have had the same problem with two of them. They were both brand new out of the box They never charged from the first time I turned them on. Just going to return it and buy another brand after seeing how many people have been having this problem.

Well I'll give Archos credit for one thing, they are fast. I sent the tablet on Monday, they got it on Wednesday and shipped me something today to arrive on Tuesday. I'm not sure if they fixed my tablet or just sent me a new one at this time. Still not happy I had to pay $13 to ship it to them over something I am now sure they are aware of with these tablets, but it's cheaper than buying the extended warranty at Staples. lol

Hello all
Please see my topic Archos service AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++++++++++
I hope that you all recieve the same level of service I have.
I thought they were outstanding and even though you need to pay for the return postage I still think I did OK.
I am sure that most businesses cannot afford to have a free returns policy or they would be overwhelmed by people sending things back that had the most minor or sortable problem.
All the best to all of you

I have mailed to all addresses I could find, written on the fb page. No response at all.
Of course conpanies can not afford having to pay for shipping, but if they send out a device that is badly made in the first place I think it is very bad form to let the consumer pay for that. I put my faith in them by buying from them, some form of service is no too much to ask. All I get is a standardised reply with an rma number. It is useless to get back a new archos with the same manufactering fault.

It is possible that you do have a defective product (that happens with just about ever company somewhere along the line).
You may want to take a look at my post in the General G9 Discussions though also http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=64763

Re: My Archos G9 80 will not longer take a charge
Update on my tablet, just got it back today but they sent me the "turbo" version and it says it can be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich, which my poor phone cannot do at this time, so I'm looking at this as a good thing and pray this does not happen again!
However, I have it plugged into the pc to do a firmware update and notice it says "slow charge" and telling me to use the dedicated charger it came with. I am using the usb charge cord so is it saying I need to plug it into a wall outlet instead? My old tablet never gave me this message.

Re: My Archos G9 80 will not longer take a charge
Yes, use the wall charger that came with your tablet. It puts way more charge current into your unit than a simple USB cable plugged into your computer. If that is what you were doing with your first tablet then that is why it did not charge.
But you have got a new Turbo now.
Don.

Re: My Archos G9 80 will not longer take a charge
Question: anyone know how long the warranty is? i bought mine in Feb and it crapped out two days ago. Will not turn on, not taking a charge, black screen. when i plug in the usb/charging cable it lights up, but no flashing, no blinking, just a steady little jackwagon of a light. kept it on the charger overnight, tried the 3-second and the 10- second button holds, the global reset, i even yelled at it. nodda. if i can send it back to covered warranty repair outstanding, otherwise i go mad scientist on it. Thinking that the depleted battery might have gone kaput. Thoughts anyone?
OH mine is a Turbo 16 Model, just in case.
