So I spent the last few days upgrading the forum
It's now on latest and best phpbb software version, and it should be hosted on a much better cloud computed host. The design is hopefully better than that temporary red thing we had the last couple months while I was trying to block spam temporarily. This setup now should be as good even better in terms of fighting the spam. There may be some new moderator features such as one-click ban, Flagging of users. Soon I'll probably add Tapatalk support in the forum of an exclusive app for the ArchosFans forum, so users can just download the app on Google Play store for free and they don't have to pay for tapatalk to use that app to access the forum optimized on Android finally! I'm considering also some phpbb modification to integrate an Archos News section with the http://ArchosFans.com wordpress front page, so forum users can submit news items and if accepted by mods or voted on by users, then it automatically gets posted to the wordpress blog front page as a user submitted news item, and that forum replies are synchronized with the blog comments somehow. Next up, I need to fix the Wiki. And reconsider that idea of having an integrated Chat system here also that hooks into an IRC channel also! If there is anything else that you think I should do let me know! I hope Archos announces G10 in June, and sends us each a copy very early so that we can start talking about the next generation next month already!

Very nice Charbax. Everything sounds better and better, and definitely looks nicer than it did before. I didn't mind the red, but this looks great.
Having an IRC channel would be nice for helping to troubleshoot problems that people are having. They can get quicker answers there, so there will be less turnaround time when someone is having a problem.

In the lastpost column of a list of topics, I wonder if you could turn the datestamp into a hot link that takes you to the last post? I have seen this in other forums and it saves you from scrolling to the bottom post of a topic most of the time.Charbax wrote:If there is anything else that you think I should do let me know!
The changes look nice. I can't seem to access all the old admin tools (puts me in circles of relogins) but the most useful ones still work.

There's the little icon below the datestamp that does that doesn't it?viking wrote:In the lastpost column of a list of topics, I wonder if you could turn the datestamp into a hot link that takes you to the last post? It does seem to take you to the last post. It's the arrow with a page to the right of the name of the last poster in the topic.

wow, i have never noticed that symbol before! I guess my mind doesnt connect something black and small with something clickable either.
In dolphin i could gesture to the bottom in one stroke, but now i use boat which as i said elsewhere seems to make ics wifi glitches completely disappear. The black symbol is especially tiny and a bit hard to click for me, due to my desktop agent mode probably making it small relative to my enlarged text.
So never mind, i guess i help by representing the dummy demographic anyway. Looking forward to what direction g10 takes...

Don't feel bad, I never noticed it until you brought it up. I just thought that it was an icon or something, but I never guessed that it was a link.viking wrote:So never mind, i guess i help by representing the dummy demographic anyway.
Re: So I spent the last few days upgrading the forum
I can no longer find the screen to move posts (acp link at bottom doesn't seem to help).
