No! I ordered before this was posted and the price was $269.99. The links at the top of the page now take you to a cart with the new 1.5 80 G9 for $249.99. Please tell me I can get a credit somehow! Even if I can't this should be a great tablet at a great price.
I tried ordering from the site above using two different credit cards. It was almost suspicious, as it won't take my cards, one a gold AMEX the other a MC.
But, I went back in and selected 2nd day air, and it clicked right over.

very primitive, i had a feeling calling for service could be more hassle than usual. So I called about canceling the order, it was not easy but got done eventually. (they told me they stopped it when it was about to be "pulled" for shipping)
I've read about issues dealing with the tech support of the company. I still like their product, but should have bought it from a big reseller instead like I always did. Got excited about the new version and jumped on it...I finally got from jr, 16gb for $269 total. Only thing is 16 gb is not out yet, still waiting.
Why would there be a service/tech advantage buying from JR?
I got a call Friday on my Thursday order: Archos is out of the 8 gig units, wanted to know if I'd wait until mid-week, this week. Said they'd throw in a free case.

I think you will be waiting a while for that 16GB from JR. Not sure why they even have it as an option. For now, in the US, only 8GB and 250GB available.

Got my 1.5 80 G9 yesterday (with Honeycomb installed) from the link above
in settings the used RAM + free RAM added up to circa 400, then I upgraded to ICS, it now adds up to around 900.
At first I thought I had a tablet with just 500M RAM, now it looks like it is 1G
waited for 2 weeks then cancelled my pre-order at jr, now that Amazon is carrying this at 8gb. Order Sat night, shipped this morning(monday). True no-tax &s/h, $249 total.

I was checking places for this item. Tiger has it now but no-refund, only "exchange for the same model" if defective. Amazon a much better source to get it. To my opinion better than even archos itself, which is lagging in post-sale support & charges tax on top. the item cost me $280 at Archos, which I also canceled as well.
Even I am losing patients with these guys. I wonder why I keep trying.
I got the call two weeks ago explaining they were out-of-stock, would I be willing to wait until mid-week last week for a G9 80? For my inconvenience they'd give me a new case.
Great. So, last Thursday, I get into chat with Archos customer support and Tony tells me that, on Monday April 2nd, the next business day AFTER my call from them with the offer, Archos CANCELLED my order. Further, it was now $20 more and NO CASE. This was because they couldn't "revive" my order.
After further (ahem) discussion, Tony says, "I will talk to my supervisor and get back to you by the end of the day".
I log in at 4:00 PM, EST, and Tony gets back into chat. "Well?" I say. "Oops! Didn't realize your day end was different that ours. Your order has been reconstituted by corporate, we will ship in the next day or two. We will notify you."
So, nothing Thursday. Friday was Good Friday, so no USPS shipping that day.
Nothing yesterday, either. I think someone at Archos screwed up. Glad I saved the chats! I will be chatting in this AM and cancelling the damn order with them and jumping onto Amazon. If I hadn't already had screen savers and a Keyboard for it from MP3.Com, I'd get something else. (Consumer Reports lists it as like #40 of 52 tablets in their latest issue, but I don't think they really knew what they were reviewing. No camera? No mention of the USB/G3 port, etc.)
Well, got BACK into chat today, expressed my frustration AGAIN to Tony, who said he'd be back to me in a little while. Two hours later I got an email saying it should be arriving soon, even had a tracking number. Fifteen minutes later it was in the office, with a "cover" and a free screen saver. Someone forgot to notify me.
Its now charged. HOPEFULLY it is working well with my router, etc. when it is working. I also found a few more sources whilst I was scouring the internet, for Archos stuff.

Just be cautious of Amazon. 3 of the 4 tablets I ordered from them were the prior models even though they advertised the new specs. This was back in Feb and March. But because it was Amazon the returns were simple and return shipping was even provided. In my case Archos stepped in and I finally was able to get the newer model direct from them for the same prices. The links are now posted at the top of this site for the three current models.
Only downside, you get 8GB instead of 16GB or even the more common 32GB provided by other makers. It radically changed my plans on some aviation software I was going to use and wasted $$ on in the market because the 8GB wasn't big enough for the charts and Archos provides no support for the SD card except for media with their own media player.
jnmarshall - you are right, i received a 3.x version instead of ics. I had to do a firmware upgrade to 4.0 not a big issue. next I'm going to verify the components (cpu, ram) match what's said on amazon site.
Just to muddle the 512MB/1GB RAM question some more.... I just bought a G9 80 Turbo 16GB. The box mentions ICS. It runs 1.5 GHz. It came with Honeycomb installed. Update to ICS still shows 512MB (well, 488MB) RAM. The faceplate mentions Turbo which seems to mean it's a newer revision of the hardware.
It's a bummer. I was hoping I'd found a 1GB model instead of this cheapskate stuff. Android kills background apps so aggressively when you only have 512MB to go around.
