Tip to improve the A43IT touchscreen (sensitivity)

After I installed UrukDroid with root and used Touchscreen Booster, my A43 runs´╗┐ like a dream, almost as good as iPod Touch.

Basiaclly the app is for the SGS.
I installed the program via the market, this app was found! And it works on the Archos 43 too.I am using the standaard fw 2.4.32
And indeed it does improve the touchscreen.
You can make it more or less sensitive, among others. There are some more settings you can change which I didn't changed yet.

This is amazing! I can now use the Archos with just one hand - holding in my palm and scrolling with my thumb.

I selected the "Super Optimized" settings. Sensitivity is at 15, the next two are 0 and Motion Filter is 99.

I'll clarify my earlier post as it has upset one person to the extent they sent me two angry pms, one with an insult and the other a threat!

This app does nothing useful on the Archos A43IT, or on any device with a resistive screen. The app is intended to improve the responsiveness of the capacitive screen of the Samsung Galaxy S I900. Resistive and capacitive screens work entirely differently and the changes this app makes can have no effect on a resistive screen. Any perceived improvement is simply a result of expectation bias, commonly known as placebo effect.

As soon as you appreciate the obvious and fundamental difference between a capacitive and resistive screen it is obvious that it's impossible to enhance the performance of a resistive (pressure sensitive) screen by changing the way it (cannot) respond to changes in (undetectable) capacitance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touchscreen

The most that you can achieve with this app is slightly increased power consumption. Any claim that it makes the A43IT's resistive screen

is absurd. Anyway try it for yourself: we all know the resistive screen performs inconsistently and seems to perform better at some times/tasks than others. Install this magical, mysterious app which defies the laws of physics by equating electrical capacitance with physical pressure, and watch and wonder as you get the same exact inconsistent performance you had before!

Your answer is theoretical. Practically the case is different.You haven't tried anything!

I was thinking of making a little video of it using the A43IT with and without using TSB.
But trying to convince stubborn people who think they know it all cost too much energy which is useless

I will give a short reply too. I installed the app, after the first playing with the settings, it became much worse. Then I already knew that the app was working. Eventually I found the best settings and it is working much better now. Because the tocuhscreen is more sensitive on the sides, it is still not perfect, but for me it was important to fix the keyboard issues. I didn't say it is now as good as capacitive screens, but it is better.

P.S. This app is software. It doesn't do anything more than processing the touches touchscreen recognises. Archos released 2.4.83 fw a few days ago, what did they state in the settings? "35: improve touchscreen". Did they replace all the touchscreens on all 35s? No, it is just (perhaps they used the same method) software improvement. Same here.

I did try it a few weeks ago, after seeing the original post, and like diczilla I found it makes no difference (except there is one more service running). Then I found out what the app does and understood why this was the case.

Nobody has proven anything to the contrary except that expectation and confirmation bias (aka wishing and wanting) do indeed have a powerful effect on perception; this is thoroughly documented and universally accepted (see the wikipedia link to cognitive bias).

Perhaps you can explain in layman's terms how changes in capacitance are detected by hardware incapable of detecting them? This might get you a job at Fermilab or LHC CERN, or at least a job with Apple or Samsung who will be able to save a lot of money on their hardware bills.

Oh and your "little video": I expect to see at minimum an irrefutable and repeatable demonstration of "pinch to zoom". While you're there can you also magic up the app that converts the Archos softkeys dock into proper Android hardware buttons? Thanks.

@exelletor: an improved driver for the different resistive screen on the 35 does exactly nothing to support any assertion that an app for yet another(!) different and also capacitive screen works for the screen on the A43IT.

Just to be clear - it wasn't me who sent the angry PMs. I actually enjoyed the joke, although it took me awhile, I must confess.

I'm pretty sure it's not cognitive bias. Before, when scrolling, the screen would jump all over the place, and now it's much more precise. It hasn't happened yet.

It's not at all like a capacitive screen. Tapping still misses a lot, for example. But it's definitively better and more usable.

I know the difference between capacitive and resistive screens, but I don't know what the app does exactly. Do you? If so, please share.

I've played with the other settings, but I didn't notice any change. So perhaps only the sensitivity is affected by the app.
