Custom eclair rom for Archos7C: Archos7C_eclair.08
Disclaimer: You apply this firmware on your own risk. It "should" work but I don't have a 7C to test it on.

Re: Custom eclair rom for Arnova7C: Archos7C_eclair.02
First Boot after upgrade:
Very long time with the introduction screen (Maybe I'm anxious).
Again Titanium backup not responding
and again touch screen not responding
Perhaps in second plane a window indicating that wizard stopped unexpectedly, but "Titanium backup not responding" is over it.
Second boot
wizard stopped unexpectedly
and again touch screen not responding
Third boot after reset... same as second.
Bricked again. Maybe a version only with market could be a first step... or whatever you think, I suppose that root is giving problems. TSCalibration was not the undelying problem.

And another try: see first post.
Re: Custom eclair rom for Arnova7C: Archos7C_eclair.02
Archos7C_eclair.03
Again wizard ended unexpectedly and touch screen not responding for closing the window.
In this case every boot after reset shows the same response. Bricked again
And you know, as I do not have titaniun backup...

To prevent guessing: Are we talking about this Archos rom from the Archos website: http://update.archos.com/ht/archos7cht/ ... update.img
Please check on the Archos site whether I took the correct from their site.

Re: Custom eclair rom for Arnova7C: Archos7C_eclair.02
Yes, that file is correct. After instaling your versions I reinstall that file (Rkbatchupgrade) and everything works perfect, this is the fourth time this week, so that file is "fail-safe".hvdwolf wrote:To prevent guessing: Are we talking about this Archos rom from the Archos website: http://update.archos.com/ht/archos7cht/ ... update.img

Your img has been instaled with and without Rkbatchupgrade (depending on the version) with no significant difference.
Anoying, isn't it?
I forgot: Thank you for your files, even if they do not work!

Re: Custom eclair rom for Arnova7C: Archos7C_eclair.02
I think I know what the issue is.
The first rom came with the 7C TSCalibration and zeamlauncher. I assume you selected zeamlauncher as laucher. When it bricked we suspected TSCalibration. So I removed TSCalibration and the tablet still bricked. In the third tablet I also removed a couple of other things including zeamlauncher: and it still bricked.
After some testing myself (and then googling around) I discovered that the zeamlaucher 3.x doesn run on Eclair. You need the older 2.x versions.
So I assume the first two roms bricked due to zeamlauncher and the last one bricked due to the fact that the 7C TSCalibation.apk was not in the rom either.
I could simply build a new rom or you could follow the script delivered by sven-ola.

For me this is like chinese, I am not a rom developer, but with some links I may learn.hvdwolf wrote:I think I know what the issue is.

Edit: I see, a new post. I will install ubuntu and hope no other tools are needed.
Edit2: Linux is a pain. Error with apt-get install build-essentials...
Back to the old times of a black screen and command line...
Edit3: I think it is "apt-get install build-essential" without the s
Edit4: error: zlib.h not found... this is not for newies.

I fact I did not have the possibility of chosing any launcher, the only messages I saw were the ones I described.hvdwolf wrote:I think I know what the issue is.

sven-ola only provided the bare minimum to get going. You do need the experience.aleste2 wrote:For me this is like chinese, I am not a rom developer, but with some links I may learn.hvdwolf wrote:I think I know what the issue is.

I'm using linux since 1993. I think I have "some" experience.
What I actually meant: Do you want me to build a rom for you?
EDIT: As I'm using scripts it only takes me one minute to build, 1 minute to update the change log and 10 minutes to upload it.
See first post.
Re: Custom eclair rom for Arnova7C: Archos7C_eclair.02
Thank you, anyway I will still continue trying sven-ola scripts (some years ago I was also linux programmer), it's just personal!hvdwolf wrote:sven-ola only provided the bare minimum to get going. Going to brick my 7C again
Re: Custom eclair rom for Arnova7C: Archos7C_eclair.02
Archos7C_eclair.04
Bricked again, in this case infinite loop on calibration, with no error message. When I try to press ok (calibration correct) it does not work and restarts calibration.
I think sven-ola is right about some kind of protection.

And another one: version 05. Now with the Wizard.apk removed after sven-ola's tip.aleste2 wrote:Archos7C_eclair.04

Re: Custom eclair rom for Archos7C: Archos7C_eclair.05
Archos7C_eclair.05
Bricked again.
Touch the android to begin: touchscreen not working.
In all the roms the problem is the capacitive screen not working... Sure you are not using nothing from the HTV2 (resistive screen)?
All the rest seems to work, this time I could see the volume controls... and have good aspect.
Edit: Finally the aproach from sven worked!

Hi.
I'm feeling a bit stupid here, but I can't find the link to download the ROM. Has it been removed?
In advance, thanks.

Yes, it has. My roms were not correct (and I only now realize that I have been building for the Arnova7C instead of the Archos7C: What a huge blind spot!EViollet wrote:Hi.

Aleste2 was at that moment the only requester and he found out how to build this rom via Sven-ola's script.
I can upload a working rom if you are interested.

Hi.
Yes, I'm interested. I'm looking for a stable ROM with Gmail and market access.
For the moment I can't say I'm very impressed by the 2 version I have currently installed.
In advance thanks.

edit:
working fine. Only seem to have one issue : gmail app doesn't seem to work. It says that sync is in progress and will soon appear. But it doesn't. Having to revert to the web browser gmail at the moment. I can't seem to configure the google accounts in the parameters (maybe this is a limitation of Eclair?), so I can't figure out what's happening.
Any ideas? Google apps incomplete?
