defektive device? constant reboot, does not recoginze SD card

Post by philip00026 »

Hi!

I have been using my Archos 80 G9 for 2 weeks without any issues.
This weekend, all of a sudden the device did not recognize my 32GB Micro SD any more. I tried another (smaller) version with the same negative results.

In addition, the tablet now goes into a constant reboot state when left alone for 2 minutes. Here's what happens:
- after approx 1 minute, background light goes darker (normal)
- 30 seconds later, table reboots
- goes into login screen
- I can log in and work normally
- if I don't do anything, the tablet would reboot again and again after the above mentioned approx 2 minutes when not touched from within the login screen

This - and the fact that it does not even recognize SD cards any more - makes me think that the unit might be defective. Does anyone have similar experiences / an idea what the issue might be?

Thanks!

phillip,

It sounds defective to me.
Does it work OK when there is no SD card inserted ? Was there anything you added right before this problem appeared.... like new firmware or system type memory managers ? If so try removing that item.

If not before declaring it defective I would try resetting it to factory defaults. If it still behaves this way it is definitely defective.

If you are still covered by the retailers return policy I would suggest returning it to where you bought it rather than Archos.

Good luck

Hi!
actually I did not change anything. I guess the device is indeed broken. I already started the RMA process with the vendor I bought the device. Let's hope they'll exchange it fast!

My tablet woke up dead this morning. I was working fine when I connected it to the charger yesterday night.
connecting it to the charger does not seem to help, the charging light does not turn on. doesn't matter how long I press the power button, the tablet stays off.
in addition it did have an issue that it would restart by itself once in a while, but this didn't happen all the time.

Bit dissapointed as I've had smaller issues with the tablet, but all I could live with so far and I felt the tablet offered me all that I needed.

My unit broke yesterday, turned it self off when browsing youtube (with the battery around 90%). Nothing will get it to turn back on. The LED flashes green a few times and thats it. It wont reset, its completely dead after 4 weeks, been used for around 20 hours in total.
