80 G9 250gb?

So are these gonna be the last ones to hit the store? Im extremely anxious to get my hands on this. Are we planning on the end of october?
I find it a little disappointing that theres a lack of desire for these things in the general public. Archos should be much more well known for being responsible for the only HDD tablet! (whether you think HDD is bad or not)

Side note, I'm going to attempt to upgrade the HDD on this thing to 320gb once I get it. It seems entirely possible.

No it no seems entirely possible because Archos made a special contract with Seagate so the second to provide Momentus 2.5 HDDs with some differencies from the classics one.

I do wonder if they're using a derivative of the momentus , or the momentus xt. If it's the latter, then odds of it being user replaceable will go down dramatically. The XT is a hybrid drive in itself and uses some rather exotic firmware to make use of the built in 4Gig SSD.

I thought the drive was confirmed to be a seagate momentus thin? I knew that there was 4gb of flash memory somewhere on the device to store the OS because android doesn't recognize HDD's. I assumed that it would be separate from the HDD.
However, if the flash is part of the HDD then that changes everything...

i have pre order a Toshiba utra thin 1TB drive from a Hong kong dealer BTW im from HK
now i have install a 750GB on my A70
the normal A70 use a seagate momentus thin 250GB but you dont have to use same seagate you can use other... think out side of the box
and if you thinking about SSD i would suggest just go buy a i pad ^+^

No I am not thinking about an SSD. Like I said before, Android does not support HDD's. So what archos did was include a 4gb SSD IN ADDITION TO the 250gb HDD. The OS and all importent Android things are stored on the SSD. What some people were saying earlier in the thread is that perhaps Archos is using an HDD/SSD hybrid. I don't believe this to be the case seeing as its a Momentus Thin...

So youre saying that youre going to replace the 250gb Momentus Thin with a 1TB Toshiba ultra thin? You think that will work? Just out of curiousity, what HDD did you use for your 70? I'm just worried about another HDD not fitting in the casing.

I read several weeks ago that it is definately a hybrid drive - ruling out any thoughts of upgrading the HDD

yes The 1TB toshiba ultra thin will work for sure if it is thin enough my 750GB works fine
archos did not include a 4GB ssd TO THE 250gb but the A70 have a onboard 2GB memory for use with android
for detail of the HDD i use for my A70 you can just scroll up a little bit and see the photo i post there
i just use a normal size 750GB and put it in and it work great
