Does Root slow the archos 101down?

So I've had root running on my 101 for a little while now, I decided to root so I coud move the navigation keys and use titanium backup. I currently use the temp root and select developer edition each time i boot. My question is should i be experiencing any significant impact on the speed of my device? Ive noticed when booted in root (developer edition) I get homescreen redraws every time apps being very slow and opera takes ages to load. but if i boot into non root normal its fine, everything loads fast and my homescreen is fine is this a common issue, would rw root solve my issues?

The "Chulri" root you are using doesn't impact your speed, but after some testing Opera got ditched by me.
It is a memoryhog, saves the cached files to /data/data and especialy on a device with normal
appspace this means very fast internal memory drain.

Are you sure that it's not a different use of the device?
What are you doing different that you need/use root?

I thought that at first so I tried getting rid of opera and it didn't really help. Basically if I boot in developer mode (so root) if I open any apps (evernote, market, anything really) on returning to the homescreen it shows up blank then slowly redraws. However if I do the exact same thing but just boot into normal android (so no root access) I can open the exact same apps and return to the homescreen and it's fine, everything there as it should be no redraw.

Out of interest what browser do you use? I've been using the stock browser up until very recently.

I have a 32, but the Dolphin browsers (HD and Mini) are incredible. Smooth and doesn't slow down my or my uncle's 70.
I think HD is worth a try.
Also, try CPUMaster is you can overclock for a little boost.

The thing you describe is a memmory problem.
You seem to have things installed that use more memmory when booted with root.

I noticed that my device got slower after I rooted, expanded the partition and installed a ton of apps!

i root my archos 101IT, 2.4.19+R/W chulri method, everythings is ok, except that i realized a slowdown in internal storage transfer rate.
i didnt remove android kernel to make some tests and to compare when i boot from android and from developer (root)

example
when i boot from android i took 20seg to load angry birds
when i boot from developer (root) i took 60seg to load angry birds

i did alots benchmarks, not problem with mem, cpu, 2d or 3d
but when bench the internal storage i got 4MB/s in read
when i boot from android i got 10MB/s

someone know why this happens?

I believe it's because root does not change the fact that Archos OS is still running from a squshfs. Chulri saves changes to a separate folder in a different filesystem that needs to be combined in real-time causing constant multiple reads/writes. The overhead is double what a non-rooted Archos would suffer as a result. Too bad, Uruk here I come (back).
