Newbie here so, please be gentle.
Do I need a special app to download podcast? If podcast downloading is even possible?

Re: Podcast
You would need an app for Podcasts. I got some app of the Amazon marketplace before, but it seems to have been pulled.
Just search either Google, or the Android market (or the Amazon market, or any other market) for "Podcast" and I'm sure you'll find a ton of apps for it. Read the reviews to see what it performs like, don't just go by the product description.

Thanks!
Re: Podcast
Actually, you almost do not need an app. Open your browser and find a link to your podcast. 20 % of the time, it will start downloading and half the time after that it will play in the stock mp3 player. On an archos 28, something will probably die due to lack of memory before you get very far.therick422 wrote:[...]

In practice, Hairfainx is right. An appropriate app makes it much easier. I use "google listen" for the podcasts with a nicely organised RSS feed. "tunein" radio also has many podcasts, but you cannot really add your own to their list.

Tried going directly to ESPN Podcenter... won't play nor download... indicates I do not have latest flash installed... followed the link for Adobe 10.1 but, it's not letting me install... any ideas?

Sorry.. that is a good point. I wrote that you almost do not need a special player, but obviously, for flash-encapsulated podcasts, you will.therick422 wrote:Tried going directly to ESPN Podcenter... won't play nor download... indicates I do not have latest flash installed... followed the link for Adobe 10.1 but, it's not letting me install... any ideas?
I believe flash can be installed from archos' "appslib" or, from the android market after you go through the appropriate hoops.
This leads me to another question. After you install flash, has anybody, at any time ever had a flash podcast play on an archos 28 ?
Regardless of how many background processes I kill off, I never have any luck.
