I know that support for this product is virtually non-existent but maybe a generous archos fan can help me. My archos 3 vision refuses to connect to any pc via USB. It worked perfectly for 2 years and then suddenly won't allow me to browse files. It doesn't even show up as connected but my flash card connects fine.
I have tried to do the gimmick restore settings which did nothing. As far as I know there isn't a way to restore it to OEM status by using the device alone. I have also tried resetting it at the back.
It shows the battery graphic and if I press the screen it will let me play music and etc. Before, it didn't allow me to do this while connected so I have no idea what's going on. It does recharge the battery via USB which I'm grateful for.
Any help will be compensated with love and praise.

I have a similar problem as you. It mounts on windows but it can't mount on linux. Anybody could help us.
