Custom ROM for A7HTV2: Android 2.2 (7HTV2_22.22)

hoi

yes - my first ROM install on a home-tablet /android device

so - just had a look at the card
formated in FAT32 (was not sure if it was 32 or 16)
the card ist not "not-readable"
my fault - wrong explaination/words ...

the card it self works pretty good in any device
but not in the Archos 7 HT with the froyo 22.22
the card is "not-connected" when it is plugged in.


i also think that it is not a r/w permission problem -
the card it self is not recognizable in the archos when i plug it in.
i took normal explorer - and also tried the es-file-explorer -
Error - no card in slot ... allthought it was in

i take the card in my win7 netbook - all fine
(also it was usable in the archos with 2.1 eclaire - but i need root permission
couse i need to map/mount some/many folders from different servers ... so eclair is not my first choose...

the froyo 2.2.1 would fit perfect for my work with the archos

I don't know. Hopefully someone else with this rom and an SDcard mentions his/her experience.

I also tried your normal froyo 0.9
There i had browser and calibration problems.
But maybe i will try again your rom.

Or flash again the 22.22 - maybe was an error while flashing

My 4Gig SDcard works fine. I've my Titanium backup's on it, no problem. Also have a few thousands of ebooks on it, no problem.

If it doesn't work, you are probably sticked to another (custom) ROM. Do you have ADB running? Maybe you can provide us with a logfile? (adb logcat)

does that means that file-fragments are still on my
archos device -and they mixed up while flashing?

ADB is ähm for ...?(google says - Android debugg bridge)
means bridging "somthing-with-USB" ?
with the 22.22 i can connect via USB-cable to my winXP Pro machine here.
so maybe we can exclude an ADB problem... or it is a "part-problem"

connection TO an USB device - NO

i did a test yesterday - and took the 2 Gig SD card from my daughters DSi

same problem...
message in the top-line:

- SD-Card (it is in german: "SD-Karte")
- preparing/testing card (it is in german: "Karte wird Vorbereitet")
- card can be unmounted (it is in german: "Karte kann entfernt werden")
- SD-Card
- preparing/testing card
- card can be unmounted

(allways twice)

after that nothing more - no connection - althought it is in.

I meant if it is working with another ROM, you could probably better use that ROM, I don't know how to fix the problem.
Did your SD card worked when you had the original Archos firmware? Or the froyo.09? I don't think you have answered that question.

ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge. With it you can easy debug things on your archos device using your PC. I'm interested in a logfile. You can make this one with ABD for example, but also with a terminal emulator on your Android device. (More info on ADB)

If I eject and again reinsert my SD card it only shows them one time. You don't have more partitions on your SD-card?

Don't know for sure, but mine is always in it.

Did your SD card worked when you had the original Archos firmware? Or the froyo.09? I don't think you have answered that question.

yes it worked with original archos fiemware.
and i think also with froyo.09 only calibration and browser did not work
so i found your 22.22

Don't know for sure, but mine is always in it.

in the archos - maybe it is needed to be in while flashing that the right driver will be implemented?

I think also that the 22.22 ROM is very complete and good working, most issues with previous froyo ROM's fixed. A pity that your SD card doesn't work.

You can do it without ADB (i'm very used to ADB) if you download a terminal app from the market.

SD-card is not touched during flashing. Let's see what happens if you let it in while flashing.

i will flash in a few minutes again 22.22
- also think the 22.22 is good and complete couz it has all in what is needed for me.
(just do the backup of the 16gig card needs a few more minutes)

Well, probably you have now some remains of the froyo.09 ROM, which has a RW system partition.

try to make the copy-job of the 22.22 via WLAN ...
but ES-file-explorer allways comes again with SD-Card message not present
so it is hard for me to see and find the root-layer on the internal storage

You could try this way. Then you don't have to copy the update file to the device, and also the remains of froyo.09 will be gone.

RKAndroidBatchUpgrade.exe has done the job -
now it is formating and flashing ... *still-fingers-cross*
(with SD-Card inside)..

for me - this procedure looks more cleaner and saver than the
"just-put-update.img-in-the-root-and-reconnect-for-update-start" version.

this time update worked smooth and perfect.
SD-Card is in and working
USB-Connection also works like a charm.

i think the flash messed up with the froyo0.9 - that created all the probs.
(no - not the froyo0.9's fault - just the combination that
i flashed first froyo0.9 befor flashing 22.22
i think froyo0.9 is also an excelent ROM)


now i do again WLAN connection - market-update
aMPdroid install, es file-explorer, google-mail etc. and will have a look if all works ...

Looks good so far, awesome work.
I played around for 2 days now and the only problem I ran into is the limited RAM. When it's full the system will slow down or crash.

A RAM optimization would be nice. For example, there are 2 search apps installed.

- connectbot is the best. You can get it from the market or from the Google project page.
- The su (= switch user) command is simply what it is, type su <enter>.
Now you will be asked whether you want to allow root access (by the SuperUser apk). Click yes (or confirm, can't remember now).
- Now you really have root access and can issue the command: insmod /path/to/cifs.ko

I just did the same steps, but use andSMB and that works fine for me. It works both on my public shares as well as my user/password protected shares.

I'm currently even on the same rom.

EDIT: I downloaded CIFS-manager and encounter the same errors. Next to that: CIFSmanager has some weird options that it tries to mount by default on /mnt/cifs/<share name>. This file system is read-only in this rom.
Also: it uses guest as guest account, but you can try with anonymous as well.

Still andSMB works fine.
