Help Please

I just purchased an archos 43 a few days ago. So far I have been HUGELY DISAPPOINTED. I can't connect to the wifi at all in the same room that I have 4 bars on my laptop. The apps ALWAYS crash. I am forced to force quit all the time and the screen freezes up. Is there something wrong with my tablet, or is it just a piece of crap?

Have you charged it via your computer? Have you downloaded the latest firmware from the Archos site and installed it? I ask because Archos have been ironing out wifi issues with each FW that they release. The latest FW was released today and you can download it via this link.

I've YET to see my Archos 43 utilize the "N" band.. when I restrict the router to "N" only it refuses to connect or gets horrible bandwidth.. can't remember which. If the feature works so badly they might as well not have made an "N" chipset in the first place.

As for apps crashing, that's partly the nature of the apps.. tell us which apps are crashing.. if it's the ones that come with the A43, then there might be cause to RMA or do a system reset (rebuild the firmware and/or apps back to "stock" which is complicated for a newbie.. so call customer service and they'll walk you through it).

I updated the firmware and did see a small increase. I was on vacation with the time of the problems but briefly tried out the internet connection before I left and it was mediocre. I havn't tried it at my house yet with the new firmware, so I hope that will make a difference. I don't have a micro sd card, I just use the internal storage. As far as apps crashing, well Pandora has trouble loading and sometimes the default music app crashes. Also facebook for android will sometimes screw up and the screen wont work so I have to turn it off and turn it on again and that usually fixes it. Anything else I should get for my android to make it better? Thanks.

what kind of security measures have you setup for your router? is it wpa or wpa2? i had problems with a few gaming devices in the past with using wpa2 security on my routers config it may or may not be related to the problem you are having *shrugs*
