Angstrom loaded but... hang after kernel load

So I got Angstrom loaded alright and it runs. I tried flashing the kernel/iniramfs, but then my 70 hangs during boot. I probably have the wrong set of files. Is there a set that will closely resemble stock Archos but with root? I've tried searching but can't find what I'm looking for. Any help appreciated.
