Any Smokers out there

hi peeps, i know this has sweet FA to do with media players thus me posting it in this room.
I hope that some find it useful.
Anyways as some of you well know im a smoker (or i should say ex smoker as from a week ago). Ive tried all sorts of NRT products
patches - made me sick and i still wanted to smoke
inhalators - makes me cough and felt sick
gum - same as above,
also i have zero will power, with the added part that i really enjoy smoking, and feel victimised every where we go now (smoking bans) just made it harder to quit.

I stumbled accross the E-cig

i was pretty skeptical about it first of all, but having young children i thought i would give it another shot.

Well, im totally blown away with my e-cig, it contains no harmful cancer causing chemicals - only nicotene.
You get the sensation and vapour (smoke) like you do in a normal ciggie, and the biggest part is the hit!!! as all smokers know the first one of the day is the best, i thought that my e-cig wouldnt cut it, but wow, one drag and thats it im ready to start the day, no more grumpy moods, short temper etc.
It tastes slightly different, not as heavy but pleasent and clean (unlike an normal ciggie). There is no smell, and it kills the cravings stone dead.
I got mine last week and havent wanted a normal ciggie since, i feel much better in myself - no more smelly hands and clothes.

I am now currenty enjoying all the normal smoking pleasures without the boundarys that smoking gives you, ive walked into pubs and clubs without any problems, you can even use them on aeroplanes!!!!

Ive let a few friends at work try who have been 30+ year smokers and they have gone straight out and bought thier own. one of them was a 60per day smoker down to zero overnight!!! I really cant recomend one of these enough to anyone, do some reasearch and have a look, they are banned though down under and in HK (no govenment taxes i assume).

i hope this really does help someone out.

congrats! good job at quitting!

im an asthmatic (not as bad as i use to be thankfully) and i get the smokers hack after walking through a casino for less than 5 mins. that stuff is really hard on the lungs.

Quiting smoking is the single biggest thing you can do to help your health and the health of your family. One thing to look at is people who smoked their whole lives and are in their 50's. Especially a woman. Many have very weathered and wrinkled skin and they look much older than they are. You can usually walk down the street and pick these people out. That is how much of a toll smoking puts on your body.

Remember too that smoking is also behavioral. We all had favorite times to have a smoke. You need to be aware of these behavioral situations and try to change and avoid them as much as possible.

Smoking is like any other addiction. Once you quit you will still have the urge to have a smoke. This urge will follow you around for years. NEVER say "I have quit, now I can have just one and it won't effect me". This is a killer trap. NEVER have "just one" once you have stopped for a period of time. Many people do and soon they are smoking again. This killed me more than once.

Now though, for me, that urge is gone and instead of smelling someone smoking and wanting one too, it just smells bad. It took years for this switch to happen, but it did. It will for you too.

Not only will your be helping save your life so your kids will have a "Grandpa" for their kids, but you are helping their health too. Not to mention the money saved to now spend on other electronic gadgets.

However you quit, just quit. Whatever works for you is the most important. It will not be easy but the best things usually aren't. Just keep going one day at a time and your family will thank you in the end. Good luck.

well update time,
its been a month now, and ive not had a single ciggie!!!, i still have a nearly full packet of normal cigs in my work bag. am i tempted to have one..... hell no, the e-cig has been a godsend to me, i dont plan on given up the e-cig as i really enjoy the smoking sensation. it has also turned into a great hobby, ive been trying different flavours, different makes of e-cig and generally spending money where i would have on the normal cancer sticks. ive spent a small fortune last month but working it out im still quids in, and i wont have to purchase any more equipement for at least a couple of months.
people are also saying well done for quitting, let me get this straight, ive not quit, ive substituted a lethal habbit to a safe habbit, but the habbit is still there. but for intense purposes im no longer officially a smoker lol.
its really strange how this thing has worked, i had no plans what so ever to quit, but it just went that way after my first drag on the e-cig. the govenments are gona hate this thing, they like to look like they are backing smokers to quit but wont give them the proper tools to do the job, as stated patches etc really dont solve the needs that smokers need, if govenments accross the world were to promote the e-cig i bet the overall amount of smokers would drop in half - but as usual there is no money in it for the govenments so why would they.

Hey, it worked, no smoke, you don't smell like smoke (you have kids, right?), the kids will appreciate it, and you seem to like it! Progress is progress. I don't drink coffee, to me, the smell is just as offensive as smoke. Now if only they could invent an odor-free coffee.

errrr you trying to kill me lol, my only realy crutch in this world other than the ciggies is my coffee, and coffee by the gallons!!, i love the smell and its half the pleasure from a cuppa coffee.
no coffee smell, this could go for beer??!! the smell of it i find offensive, but i very much doubt it will ever happen lol. ive got a better suggestion......... na.

Nah. Have fun with your coffee. There's this office building I frequent and every time I open the main front doors I get hit with this blast of stale coffee (like its been sitting on the burner too long) it's almost overpowering, just incredible.

congrats!!! take a look at the link, there is a forum in there which has some good videos for keeping the things running correctly, ive had a couple of issues with my collection, its a bit of a learning curve but i think you will find its really strange to feel like your smoking, look like your smoking but not. i went down the pub on sat night and was using it all the night, no one said a word other than those that were intrested in not standing out in the cold.

Since cig's have gone up to $7 dollars a pack in my state I have been pacing my own, now its like $1 to $2 a pack but since I have to make them every night I smoke much less. Use to be a pack a day now its like half a pack a day. Good job man keep up the good work.

Yeah buy cigs online is a great idea but the state and fed can and will put excise tax on it and won't ship it to you until you pay the taxes.

I've tried a few "e-cigs" and wasn't too impressed until I Green Smoke, they have a wide range of flavours with nicotine levels from 0-16mg it feels very similar compared to good ole tobacco and there is no messy liquid to mess with, there are cartridges that are pre-filled which are about one pack and 5 cost $13 compared to the $13 packs I buy (in Canada). I strongly recommend them!
