Homescreen not centered after reboots in Zeam or LauncherPro

If I use Zeam or launcher Pro, whenever I reboot my Archos 101 the homescreen is not centered. If I scroll and return to the Homescreen it returns to normal. This happens with every reboot!

I've re calibrated my touchscreen but that doesn't help. Anyone have the same issue?

Same issue with LP. Probably as both Froyo and LP are not optimized for a 10 inch screen that is why we are seeing that issue. I can live with it for now and hopefully we might see a fix soon. Need to send an email to the dev for that app.

Both Zeam and launcher Pro have have the same issue. Are they the same dev?

I believe this is an issue with the Archos 101 firmware, not the launcher used.

There's elements of all of that involved in some form or another...

I suspect that you'll find that if you could measure the 'overlap' of the alignment of the 'home screen' after reboots/power on's to the left of the screen in landscape mode, you'll find that it is the same measurement as the width of the virtual hotkeys on the right edge.

You've rightly said that Froyo isn't optimised for tablets. You'd also be right in noting that most of the launchers aren't either, strictly speaking. These are apps which are still designed to be used in portrait orientation predominantly, and the hardware platforms they were devised for typically use hardware buttons, rather than the virtual buttons of the Archos 70 and 101, hence the error in alignment caused by a lack of factoring in the allowance for the virtual buttons.

That's my guess, anyway.

I don't know if you can just 'fix' it with the FW. The Archos launcher doesn't have this issue. It seems that it is the Launcher app that needs adaption most, or could be adapted to offset the system specific errors, if that is the case.

The strange thing is it was working fine just recently.

My 101 with LP has the same issue. I find that if swipe the screen to the right or left and then back, it's fixed until next reboot. Worked fine on Eclair.

Same here first couple times after load I had to scroll a little off screen then it centered after that.

The fix is just drag the screen a bit to the left or right and release, and it centers itself.

As far as I know, the developer of LP have been informed of this issue with the Archos, and will most likely look into it at some point, though it may be a while before he makes an update for this. I would say the benefits of the various custom lauchers far outweigh the minor annoyance of the non-centered screen .. especially when the fix takes › second.

The problem (I am not certain) most likely has to do with the Archos soft "Home" buttons. I also use LP and if you look at the offset it is approximately the same as the soft buttons width. However, I haven't found it too big a deal, as soon as you press the home button LP corrects itself.

really seems like a non-issue though.. even if you dont want to specifically fix it by swiping once, it will correct itself during normal use

My guess is it is something to do with the soft buttons Archos put on it. It is only ever shifted to the left and seems to be shifted about the same width as the menu buttons are. Hopefully Archos does something to fix it, but probably not, they'll just say it's a 3rd party app and know nothing about that. Oh well, not a big deal to me, easy temp fix.

I think the fix lies with the 3rd party provider to take into account the soft buttons. They know about it, and will eventually fix it.

A workaround for this problem is to setup your home screen as the leftmost of your screens. (or to only have one screen)

That works most of the time, but not all the time. I saw this in Zeam and Advanced Launcher. Setting home to screen one does make it only happen once every 10-20 times I turn the power back on. It still does that every now and then.

I didn't see a fix here for adw so here it is (from my own experiments):

for adw ex, fix is this:

menu:more:adw settings:general behavior:animation and effects:desktop bounce:set it to 0 and hit OK

voila. you don't have to make your home screen left most or anything like that.

I've been using adw ex for awhile now with desktop bounce at 0 and that does not fix the issue.
