Problem with charging

Post by zaf »

My new Archos 101 has a problem. I cant seem to charge it properly :-( . Everytime i want to charge, i have to wrestle with it so that the the end of the charger (the one you plug into the tablet) is a little bit tilted. only then will it charge. i think its loose inside or something (i dont think the problem is with the charger).

can you wiggle it and get it to charge? If it is broken on the inside then you may have to RMA it.

When I first got mine it noticed it too, had to wiggle to get a good contact.....
I had upgraded it 2.21 today I noticed the new upgraded and downloaded it, said do I want to install it, I said yes, I had to plug in my dc plug...... and noticed that it did not take off.... and that the charging indicator no longer turns on.... neither by USB. I checked the dc charger by VOM and it indicates that it works. So there is an issue with the unit. Barely a week and this.
Will they fix it or replace it with a new unit? I spent so much time getting things set up and email configured. I hate to sent it in like this. Anyone with similar experience? Also experience with RMA? Thx Andrew

Who has ever felt sheepishly stupid and happy at the same time? #-o
Who has accidently ever plugged their charger into their headphone jack and wondered why it wasn't charging? I'm a newby with the 101 having had it plugged to charge one time. When excited to load 2.0.71 and prompted to plug in my DC the first hole I saw was the one higher up since it was the same size. Good thing it didn't do anything. Everything works now after upgrading to 2.0.71. Too much excitement after a stressy day. Just in case someone else made the same mistake, I am not too proud to mention it. Soooo glad everything is working and do not have to hassle with an RMA. A :D =D>

Don't worry too much about it ... trust me, MANY people on these forums have done exactly the same thing the first time they tried to charge it .. including me :)

@OP: I sometimes have to twist my charger connector around to get it to charge. But once it starts charging, I have no issues with it. It never "loses" the connection again.

1) Yeah - I too began by plugging into the headphone socket.... doh!

2) From the beginning (7 days ago) the charge connector was intermittent, needing to be tilted at an angle, and has since grown less and less reliable. 24 hrs ago no amount of tilting made a connection, and I now have no way of charging the device.

I wrote to Archos support through their online form 2 days ago, but as yet no reply.

Does one RMA through Archos central, or through the retailer?
