Bricked Archos 70 IT :( :( :(

Hi,

I've a problem with my Archos 70 IT.

When i try to flash with the firmware 1.0.84, everything seems to be ok. But when the archos flash with the firmware and then make a reboot, the logo "Archos" appear, and in seconds, a white screen appear, like fog.

I try put the archos in recovery mode, but didn't work.

I'm a owner of a archos 5, and the recovery mode works well.


What can i do?

I don't know if it is the same on the 70 as on A5IT, but here is the process for a complete reformat and re-install. My guess is that the process is the same. The firmware update file includes EVERYTHING you need including all the standard software that comes on the device. Hope this helps.

Before starting, copy latest FW update to your PC to copy to device when instructed.

Power off

Hold Reset button for 30 seconds.

Hold Volume Down and Power until ARCHOS splash appears. Release Power but continue holding

Volume Down until menu appears then release.

Use Volume Down to navigate to Format Device.

Press Power to select.

Confirm Format.

When Format complete device will say Connect to PC and install update.

Plug in and copy firmware to device root.

Press Power button to confirm Done.

Normal update process will start.

Archos 70 IT doesn't have a reset button.
Reset, is holding on the power button from 10 seconds.

I try everything.

Anyway, the manual says:

To enter into the Recovery screen
- Turn off the device and wait 10 seconds.
- Press and hold the volume + button while powering on the device.
- Keep the volume + pressed until the Recovery mode starts (white screen).
- To move from one option to another, use the volume buttons. To select an option, press the ON/OFF button.

My friend had the exact same thing on his. It was weird to see. It booted to the Archos screen and then slowly faded to white. We tried rebooting it, tried getting to recovery menu (never got to it), and tried letting the power drain out of it. Nothing would get it past the fading white screen.
The bad news: Archos had to replace it
The really bad news: Archos takes a long time to ship out a replacement (my friend is still waiting for it, been over 2 weeks since he sent it out)

The same problem here. Already sent for replacement. But no stock at this moment and have to wait for 2 weeks.
