It worked ... I'm charging and downloading the 1.0.84 firmware(which required the power to be in) ...

Well, I Got my 16gb one and am loving it, was initially dissapointed as the screen was VERY dodgy, now its fine though, erm, used it for music, video, small internet browsing, cant seem to get appslib on (the site is down) but have got google marketplace on it and that works fine.

They seems to have problems with the 8gb, and im getting pissed at the fact that they wont admit it, they're still talking about "backlogs"... while i ordered it on the 4th of November.

Mine (101 8gb) is still processing after 12 days.
They probably cant sell it. And are avoiding my question... i hate this kind of behaviour. If they tell me "we cant sell it yet" i'll be cool, but if they keep bullshitting me with "we have a lot of backlogs" thats not good.

I've spoken to the customer services lady there and she has told me that they are currently hoping to ship late next week.

Last week they told me: "we can assure you that your order will be shipped within the next week".

So i was "assured" that within this week my order would ship.

It was obviously a lie. When are they going to ship it ? Within this year ? Or we will talk about it in 2011 ?

Guys, it is clear they sell the two models which are released and they have problems with the other two which are not. They may even have it in stock indeed, but something was going on between them and archos (the right of the first night), so they are in trouble and don't know when they can start selling it.

In fact I believe that they indeed had devices when the advertised them as in stock but then something whent wrongin the legal sphere.

I cancelled my order for 250 GB but I am not really offended. I guess they gambled and lost.

They told me they are not "authorized archos resellers". That was the answer to my question "can you sell the 8bg model or are you waiting archos authorization ?".

There can be something between Archos and the (Chinese?) production company, which is not allowed to sell before the official release, but did it, and now is trying to prevent sales and avoid a scandal.

I am not quite sure how it works. Just a guess.

On Friday i'm going to Paris, and if i find it there (i heard they have it on FNAC stores) im gonna buy it and cancel my order from SimplyElectronics.

I keep asking them the same question, and they keep avoiding to answer. Bad customer service.

I'll also be in Paris at the end of next week and may go by FNAC to see if they have it in stock. Do you have any idea where their stores are located throughout the city? Also, does Archos have a walk in store? If so, i may try that too.

On google type "fnac in paris" and you'll see a map with all the fnac stores there. There are many in the city centre.

I dont think Archos has a store, i see that they're located here though:
