Archos 32 vs ZTE blade
Archos 32 vs ZTE blade
I am really wondering if it's really worth buying the 32 when ZTE blade (also known as san fransisco by orange in the uk ) is around. Oh and Zte is phone too. Imean come on Archos wants us to pay 149 euros for a pmp while the Zte costs only 10 euros more.
Lower down the prices Archos.

Re: Archos 32 vs ZTE blade
Well, the ZTE is thicker, and heavier. And it uses a 600 Mhz processor, vs 800 mhz for the 32, or 1k mhz in the 101. There are positives and negatives if you decide on the ZTE vs Archos.
I already have a thick and heavy full featured phone. But I find for surfing, music, and playing games (32 has a 3d chip too), I have stopped using my phone and prefer the lighter and faster 32.

If you feel you want a new phone, then I'd go with the ZTE. The 32 is for people who want android and a good media experience, without having to bother with contracts and monthly fees or having to upgrade their phone. Buying a ZTE blade unlocked w/o a contract is more like 250-300 Euros.efo wrote:I am really wondering if it's really worth buying the 32 when ZTE blade (also known as san fransisco by orange in the uk ) is around. No it's only 159 euros no contracts just an unlocked device ( greece)
I've seen some youtube videos and the 3d acceleration is good. Angry birds was flawless and asphalt had some minor glitches.
Also it's an amoled capacitive 3,5 inch screen so i really think that archos 32 is way too expensive.
I have to remind you that the archos is not a phone.
Here it is, incredible for the price ( custom rom froyo )

Re: Archos 32 vs ZTE blade
Wow... I did a quick ebay search to see what they were selling for and that's the price that came up... if you can really get one for 160 off contract that I'd go for that hands down.

That's exactly what i am saying, its only 10 euros more expensive and the source code of the device has been released from ZTE.
Low price, nice specs and open source code this thing is a must have.

For only 10 more euros i'd get the ZTE Blade. It has way more memory, a bigger and better screen + screen resolution, physical Home/Menu/Back buttons (the one on my 32 can be a pain sometimes)& a better camera.
Only issue might be the lack of a proper 2.2(since the beta isn't that stable) but since archos has very little clue as to when they will actually drop 2.2 (we've gone from October to November) i'd say get the Blade.

And even then no flash because it's an ARM11, right?manormortal wrote:For only 10 more euros i'd get the ZTE Blade. It has way more memory, a bigger and better screen + screen resolution, physical Home/Menu/Back buttons (the one on my 32 can be a pain sometimes)& a better camera.

I dont know if flash is not available for arm 11 but i do know that flash is not available in archos 32 too.
Dont get me wrong i am going to buy the 101 ( hoping for froyo with flash) but i was thinking to also buy something more portable too.

Well, supposedly 2.2 is coming by the end of the month, bringing flash.efo wrote:I dont know if flash is not available for arm 11 but i do know that flash is not available in archos 32 too.

But where did you find the blade for that price? I might be interested in getting one for myself if they are really that cheap. Honestly, I'm not trying to prove you wrong, but I haven't been able to find it for under 250.

In the last picture it states with smaller letters above the price that the price is without contract. Some people allready bought it.

ARM11 is 3x slower than the ARM Cortex-A8 in Archos devices.
But if all you're looking for is a phone, then sure it's probably not a bad choice.
