Archos 101 or 70 Official U.S Release Date

@warlock257 - I'm in the Toronto area and ordered the 70 at Archos.com. The do not seem to have a Canadian hub as it was shipped via UPS ground from Commerce City (CO) and is now awaiting clearance in Windsor. I expect it to arrive either later today or tomorrow. Can't wait!

I am sooooo jeoulous, I'm in Montreal and pre-ordered from archos.ca in October

this is some of the replies I've received so far today from archos.ca concerning the shipments:

"There was a tiny batch of 70s and no 101s received by Archos which they put on their site. The large batch is in transit to them now and as soon as they get it they are shipping to me. All this should take between 10 and 14 days"

"Actually we should have them before the end of the month and to you before the end of the month. Archos totally misjudged the demand for these and have told me they will only be able to fill my preorders before January."

"The thing to keep in mind is that since I am the Canadian distributor we get them before anyone else and in fact NO Canadian stores will get them before January. I just dont have enough stock to give any of them anything"

so my friend, enjoy and consider yourself probably one of the first canadians to get there hands on one

This certainly concerns me,
Hopefully Scott's preorders to Archos is much much larger than our preorders to scott.
I would defintely cancel my order and wait for something else if I don't have mine before Christmas.

guess it also matters when you pre-ordered with Scott, but he has told me I would be getting mine during this shipment (before December), I pre-ordered on Oct 20th.

I put in my preorder on Sept 24th.
So I already have 45 days of fun trying to track for my Archos 101.
I guess this explains my frustration with Archos

Dont forget Tiger direct is just [Best buy] online I dont know about you guys but I dont trust those guys very much.

Tigerdirect is NOT BestBuy! TD is owned and operated by Systemax Inc. who also bought the failing bankrupted company's of Circuit City, & CompUSA which they now operate also.

As for trusting them I have been buying from them for over 12 years now, they are among the BEST retail electronics stores out there, thus out selling and buying its competition. They are very trustworthy!

Nope, I work for a the Swedish tool maker Sandvik Inc., I m just a person that has been shopping there for over 12years, and never once have had a problem with them. It's not TD, J&R, or any other shops fault, it's Archos. They are giving the dates to these retailers all the CRS are doing is looking and relaying what they are seeing. Granted SOME CSR's are just telling callers anything just to get them off the phone(and can you blame them? just read through some of the posts, just think how many calls they must be getting!), but for the majority of them I think they are just reading from their screen. Just my 2 cents!

Just passing on an email I received today. Went with SIG as I live in Canada and they were cheaper than TD.ca when they were pre-ordering. Don't think I will cancel as I have lived 27years without an Archos 101 so another 2 weeks I can handle I am sure.

FYI, in the US, Archos is requiring someone to be there to receive the UPS package. You can't just leave a signature. This might save you a day or 2 in anxiety.

That is a Chat between CharBax and i stating the 15th for the 101 and the 70 but not the 70//250gb yet..USA release dates

Just a guess here, but looking at the specs on this page all gen8 tablets are showing either Android/Archos OS, other than the A70 which shows 2.1. Now if you look at the A101 it clearly states 2.2.Jut maybe the delay is that they are in fact updating the A101's with 2.2

It's highly unlikely that they would be able to update that many units manually in such a short period of time. But maybe...

the last email I have from Tigerdirect says that they will get them Monday the 15th. I guess one more weekend and we will see if there is another delay or not.

The week of the 8th was posted also on their Face book page.

I think they have the devices and they are sitting in house. We all seem to think that supply is the problem, but I have another theory. A small number of 70's have been released here in the US and a small number of each in Europe.

Now if I was Archos, having advertised and hyped 2.2, and then 2.2 became delayed in development and the devices had to have 2.1 factory installed, I would be scared to death of what might happen if there was an issue with the 2.1 to 2.2 upgrade process itself when 2.2 is released. What if most or all the units out in the wild end up bricks? But, to have to deal with RMA's on a few hundred units verses a few 100,000 units is an acceptable beta test of the upgrade process and keeps guys like us from totally losing faith.

I don't think we will see any more units released until the Froyo 2.2 hitch is worked out and they have a track record of successful upgrades from the first release. Had that release actually been today like was thought I believe Archos would be shipping by about Tuesday of next week.

The idea that they don't know when they will receive units is absurd. Shipments these days are tracked to the minute.

I wish I knew the truth though, it's the miss-information that is the issue much more than the delay.
