Archos Game Pack

Nic the Dunce back again for some help ...

In a weak moment I bought a four pack of games through the Media shop on my A5ITwA500. All went well and they took the money ....

But on hitting the download button, I was told I didn't have enough space. ( There is about 350 GB spare ... )

This mail came in with the order details :

Thank you for your order Transaction ID XXX well received on 2010/10/24 at 21:03 (Paris time). No mail ever arrived, and nothing that I can see when I log in.

No reply from Archos. Yet.

Any tips please ?

Dear customer, You have to connect to your Archos account and go to the tab "Manage products" then click on the thumbnail of your product. Finally, click on the button "more" face up plug-ins. The download link will appear. Cordialement / Best regards

So - that was true , found the file, downloaded to my desk top - an AOS file with a massive 3,191 kb ... but what do I do with it next ? Presume I have to copy it to my Archos somewhere somehow ...

Connect your Archos to the PC then drag the file from your pc to the Archos "Downloads" folder once you've done that and your Archos is no longer connected to the PC go to "File Manager" on your Archos and scroll down till you find "Downloads" open this then you should see the file you dragged from your PC.Click on the file and follow on screen install instructions.

Steps went fine ...

Connect your Archos to the PC
then drag the file from your pc to the Archos "Downloads" folder
once you've done that and your Archos is no longer connected to the PC
go to "File Manager" on your Archos and scroll down till you find "Downloads" open this then you should see the file you dragged from your PC.
Click on the file and follow on screen install instructions.


... until I clicked on the file and it said DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR USB ... or something scarily similar. Too late ! But it didn't seem to matter , and the games are there , under Games amazingly enough.

Two questions I won't answer

Were the games worth the effort or the money

Why didn't they just download directly ???

Random thought - I never know which things one can just disconnect from the PC . I think the Archos is one you can ...

Actually, in the status bar at the top left, there will be a usb symbol. If you pull the bar down you will have the option to turn off the usb storage before you disconnect. It is probably a good idea to do this.

As a relative newbie owner myself I have seen the little USB symbol but didn't realize that you had the option to turn the USB off by this method,in the past i have always powered down my Archos then unplugged it,Thanks for that butterflygirl.
