Yes the market installer from .26 solved the issue for me. I can send you the APK if you want. Just send me a quick email. watkins77@cfl.rr.com
It worked for me just installed it over the .27 market.

Hi,

I just tried to flash V0.27 but no success so far...

Steps were:

-flashed original ARCHOS firmware with RKAndroid -> success
A7HT booted normally
-flashed V0.27 (copied update.img and System folder into root folder of A7HT)
stopped USB connection, unplugged USB cable
confirmed the installation of a new firmware found on A7HT
A7HT booted with all the messages
Boot screen with smoking gears appeared (the one with "ARCHOS Entertainment your way" in the lower right corner)
But for 15 to 20 minutes no progress... seems to be frozen

What's wrong?

Thanks

I managed to flash vdelf's firmware instead of V0.27. Market works, though it's in English... would prefer German... anyway, I like it so far.

However, I noticed something very alarming:

My A7HT started to "shift" its brightness after firmware flashing: it keeps on making brightness little bit darker then brighter, then darker and so on

Anybody discovered the same with vdelf's firmware?

Did you install the drives that came with the package? You need to put the Archos on hold and reset it on the back. Then connect it to your PC and Windows will ask for the drives. RKAndroid should then find the Archos.

I8 just have to say. All of the apps I instailed to get my market working where from "himself" part from his. v26 image and part from his .27 image. So if anyone uses that solution he developed the software I just worked with it till I got it to work.

Many props, Kudos, ackolades, to "himself"
The new firmwares are just great and really make this tablet useable.

Just a quick note to everyone useing the RKAndroid.

1. Turn off the tablet
2. Movethe switch on top all the way to the right.
3. Connect the USB from the device to a USB port on the pc.
4. Windows will ask you for a driver. It is in the RKAndroid.
5. Now open the RKAndroid.exe and it should recognize it.
6. Select your update.img and flash the Tablet.

I think it says update or flash either one works.
Hope this helps any one having a issue with it.

If you face problem with 0.26 FW like : it's ***** on the boot up. I got a picture, but the set up would not go further...
Try following the instructions Pmarin posted here: http://archoshacks.blogspot.com/p/frequ ... tions.html
(instead of going back to the original firmware, just select Himself's update.img).
Hope this helps...

In my case re-formatting the internal flash area using Windows was a panacea.

Firstly I installed 0.27 onto the latest stock firmware. It made the tablet hanging at start-up screen. Using RKAndroid to re-update with 0.27 image solved the hang, but it lost all the internal flash storage area, also lost SD card read/write capability. At this stage the pre-installed File application shows nothing in Internal Memory folder. Internal Flash Storage shows "Available space: 0"

I re-plugged archos to PC through USB port, press the mount button on the a7ht screen, then Windows asked whether want to format the drive. I let it be formatted with FAT32. After that, a7ht now can see the internal flash area, can read/write SD card.

The problem here is that i had the newest official FW, then i saw this release. and without thinking i didn`t thought this was rooted. so i installed it in normal way. Only copying the img file. Not the other files. Then now its installed, but freezes in boot up screen. The 2nd pic. Where the writing is in the bottom right corner.

The device is found in windows. But im not able to install the device again. Now noone of the driver i have is working to find the archos 7 on my comp. I have the drivers in the RKandroid folder. But doesn`t seem to fit properly. Have a question mark on it on the window device mananger.

Now i tried to reinstall my windows to win 7 x32 but no luck. Please help me. The RKandroid software can`t find the device.

But maybe what group of device is it in windows? the archos 7. An MTP device or something else.?!

Hmmm windows 7. I have used the RKAndroid on vista 32/64 and XP 32.
I would recomend
to start off going into device manager and removing what is installed there. (right click and delete/remove it)
Then I would reboot the Pc.
Then I would turn off my tablet A FULL SHUTDOWN then
Slide the power all the way to the right and hook it up to my PC.
then winx should ask for the driver again.
I would try the Vista 32 driver.
after that I would run the RKAndroid and hopefully it would find it.

I have found that if the tablet is shutdown/powered off. I have not a single issue having RKAnoid seeing it.

What works for me;

1. Locking the Tablet with the power switch to the right.
2. Reset the Tablet with the hole on the back.
3. Connect the tablet to the switched on PC and then start the tablet and windows recognizes it and so does RKAndroid.

On the odd occasion it didn't, I repeated the above and connected to a different USB port and it re-installed the driver and worked.

Depending upon which CFW I was installing, I had to format the device. But I regularly back up anything important anyway, so it's never a problem for me.

Hello RazingArrow,
With a brand new 32 bits Windows, you should got it working again with Pmarin's instructions.
Sam

Edit : 1. Locking the Tablet with the power switch to the right when it's hanging...

@ watkins77 : HT 7 seems to be a little bit versatile... I had to flash my device several times to make it stable...

Hi Guys,

What we need is somebody to go through this forum thread and write a definitive set of installation instructions coming from:

First official FW
New official FW
Knightsdominon V3
Knightsdominion Rooted
Himself's 0.15
Vdelf's update to the new official
and Himself's 0.26

Obviously many of these will be the same instructions and so can be merged. I will then add them to both the download site (www.a7ht.co.cc) on the relevant download page and to the wiki here.

This should then stop multiple posts after that maybe a how to fix FAQ would be a good idea.

If nobody else does it I will attempt to do so, but as I have 5 kids a demanding woman who's a techaphobe and I am trying to update the site to be mobile friendly, I have a lot to do all ready, PLUS I want to take a good look at the A7HT wiki this weekend.

Cheers,

Chris
