XP Pro vs Win7 Business+

I'll be getting my archos 9 today. Win7 Started Edition is way too crippled for my taste, so I am going to upgrade it. However, I can either spend the money on a Win7 upgrade or use an existing WinXP Business license.

I know the general differences between Win7 and WinXP, and I can live without them. But what about the tablet specific features? With the current state of Win7, would I be missing out on much, or no?

Or, wait until the Archos 101 comes out in October.

That's sarcastic. With a powerless 1.2GHz CPU and only 1Gb RAM the A9 isn't really designed for Win7.

WinXP runs better on the A9.

I find Win7 Starter to be very slow when updating the OS and drivers, and installing SW. However, I find it acceptable when running most apps. This is my first Win7 tablets so I don't plan moving to another OS or version of Win7 until I've have a lot more experience with Win7 Starter.

BTW, the first OS I ran on my A9 was Linux via a Gparted USB Stick to copy the HD to an external backup drive.

ok this MAY be a dumb question, but i'm not the Most technical with computers, but i'm curious on this Thought i have:

if i Image my A9 with windows 7 and everthing else (Right out of the Box)
is there any way i can Windows XP of my ACER Aspire One Netbook and put the A9 image on
the Acer? the Acers processor is 1.66GHZ and i do believe that the RAM is the same (1GB)
is this possible? would it work even with the A9 having the touch screen Capability..
or am i just thinking the impossible?..

I would appreciate any Advice!

Win7 uses a lot more RAM to boot than XP not sure why Archos is putting Win7 on the A9. Has me thinking this is why they went DROID on the new 10.1

Either that or they went DROID due to the cost of the OS. Microsoft Windows licensing is outrageous no wonder good old Billy boy is a Billionaire... lol...

Hi,

The A9 is a TabletPC, it is not the "internet tablet" concept like the iPad and other tablets coming soon.

It is a multimedia netbook before being a tablet. So Win7 was the better choice since WMP can read mp4 HD out of the box. The choice of Win7 is obvious for capabilities and drivers support.

Windows 7 is for PC, Android is for big smartphones.
