Hey People,

I am just about to buy an archos 5. Where should I buy it ?? Where is the cheapest place to pick one up ?? Amazon.com looks the cheapest but I am in Canada. Do they ship to Canada or do I have to go on Amazon.ca ? They don`t really have any at Amazon.ca.

Also will the FM transmitter allow me to play my archos through the radio ??

futureshop has them, and no the fm transmitter doesn't work without the car kit

I would check out newegg.ca this way you can avoid the customs fees if you're shipping to Canada.

Points to know though:
You need to pay for the HD video plugin
The GPS is a subscription for pay application
There is no direct access to he Android Marketplace Archos has created their own front end that only has access to free apps
And the FM transmitter does need he car dock.

Yes, I live in Canada and bought my 500 Gb Archos 5IT (which came with a battery dock, leather case and screen protector) from Steve at Hotmp3 and got it really quickly. Brand new and in the factory packaging. I then had to order the car kit for it so that I could play music through my car radio and went back to him. Again it was new and arrived really fast.
I would recommend him for sure.

I live in Australia and the local distribs want your first born in exchange for a new archos... I ordered from these guys 3.5 years ago and was very happy with outcome and so have have just ordered 500gb a5a from same source. Dont worry about the site - it's the reliability and service thats the important issue. Email them with a question and check out their response times etc - that, to me, is the mark of a retailer you can rely on. Good luck.

I got an archos 5 160g here (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =A685-0056) for $299... it came within three days. However, i realized that it uses hdd and being an active person, i decided to return it and get the 32gb which is going for $289.99 on their website. no tax or shipping cost (only in the states...i dont know how much it would cost to get it shipped to Ca... you could ask them.???)

They have 30 days guarantee if you're not satisfied....HOWEVER, if you want to return it, you'll have to mail it back with your own $$$$. it cost me about $5 with usps. Anyhoo, i've read some bad reviews about the site... but personally, havn't gotten any troubles from them yet.

I bought mine on the archos.ca site. It took 6 weeks to receive, because apparently they were out of stock and didn't put that on the website.
They should really change the design, I was also concerned about the look of the site, it looks like a 10 year old built it, but it's real and the guy responds quickly through email.

Futureshop.ca says they have it online,
but I couldn't actually find any retail store locations that had any in stock. (I don't have a credit card, so couldn't buy it online.)
