USB Keyboard add-on possible?
USB Keyboard add-on possible?
Thought I had read somewhere that you could hook a USB keyboard into the mini-USB connector on the HT (with adapters or whatever). Or is that just a pipe dream?

Re: USB Keyboard add-on possible?
Apparently Archo PR advertised a USB host adapter for the 7HT, but it hasn't shown up for sale anywhere yet, including the Archos Store.
Update 28 May: I am incorrect here no USB host requirement for a keyboard!

Ah, vaporware, unobtanium. What would the tech world be without it?
Re: USB Keyboard add-on possible?
Far as I can tell from the sketchy information out there, the RK2808 handles USB host mode as well as OTG and slave. So lack of USB host is presumably down to software : i.e. it's not compiled into the kernel. Which is a bit of a bugger, really.
Re: USB Keyboard add-on possible?
I don't get it, didn't that guy on the other keyboard thread say it worked fine once he got the right adapter cable? No special software required.

Yep, just a converter! I was incorrect in bringing up USB Host.

I do have a cool link to a photo and an ebay item. Our member "Himself" posted in the External USB Keyboard topic, click this link: Here.
It's USB microB on one end and Femaie A on the other so it should be useful for a number of devices like Keyboards, Mice, and Thumb Drives.
I plan to get one down the road, but I don't plan to try out a keyboard any time soon. For File copies from my PC I don't need it now because I use an 8G microSDHC card in a card reader for bulk and ES File Explorer's Lan mode for smaller file and folder copies.
I'm sure we'll have more info in our Wiki before too long about USB devices on the 7Ht.
