Quasar Media Player
*note: inside the tarball is the IPK file as well as the source, bitbake recipes and related patches)

Quasar (Mplayer frontend), baked for armv7a. fullscreen vid still needs some tweaking, but its stable. :)

Way more finger friendly than the std mplayer ui.

Yes! At last, a media player that can read in my entire Music directory without crashing! Thank you!

A little more info for those with little experience. Here's how I managed to get it installed.

0. Connect wifi
1. Open a root terminal.
2. Use wget to download the file (wget http://sites.google.com/site/archos5imt ... armv7a.ipk)
3. use opkg to install the ipk file you just downloaded (opkg install quasar_0.8%2B0.9beta3-r0.1_armv7a.ipk)

opkg will download any dependencies.

Quasar is then found in the Media folder on the desktop.

2 questions:

1 - none of my cover art is showing up in the playing view. Does it only support embedded art or have I not conf'd it properly?

2 - how did you change your font size? Is that E17-specific (looks like that's what you're running)?

Edit - nevermind #2 - found the option in the View menu to "Decrease Size". Hopefully #1 is just as easy to fix.

I've updated the site, and changed it from the raw ipk file to a tarball (to include sources and bitbake recipe files). Download the tarball HERE, unpack, copy the IPK to your device, and install.

tbh, Im not sure m8, you'll have to experiment.

Or just downloaded the file to ur PC and transferred to angstrom via USBShare.

OR download straight from your unit. ;)

I know it is raining outside but am I missing something? I thought you posted an opkg package?

I updated my site with a tarball including the IPK, source and bitbake recipe. Just extract the tarball, copy to your device, and opkg install. ;)

ya know, give me a bit, and I'll re-upload the ipk files, and a separate tarball for the source files. makes more sense. :)

I'm not terribly familiar with opkg yet - will we need to uninstall the existing package before installing the new, or will it handle upgrading OK?

Also, are you able to get it to play Ogg files? I can load and play them manually into mplayer but Quasar chokes on them saying it can't find the codec.
