Make sure your machine is set to USB so that your WinXP system recognizes it as a hard drive. I have taken MANY photos with my Canon SD600 and transfered them to the AV500 using the USB Host feature and an SD Card Reader. Then I later connected the AV500 to my Windows XP system and the operating system sees the AV500 as a hard drive. I just moved the photos to a folder on my computer and that was that.

Took 2 minutes to go to settings and switch to HARD DRIVE from WMP.
