DVR not pass through? - Help me find the thread
Hi all
When i take my 604 wifi out of the DVR station, i can't see image on the TV anymore, i only see white blizzard. If i put it back, the image comes back as well.
I know this topic has been discussed before but i couldn't find the proper thread with the search function. I would appreciate if anyone could give me the link to it AND/OR an explanation on what i am doing wrong. Maybe my DVR is defective?
Thanks in advance

Yes, when the 604 is on the DVR, everythng works fine. I can record video, watch video, watch PDFs and pics on the TV screen...everything. But when i take the 604 out of the DVR craddle, the TV screen becomes a white blizzard,.tompe wrote:And you have confirmed that you have an input signal into the DVR station by recording it?
My installation is as follows:
wall antenna to a digital TV receiver
->
digital receiver to the DVR input, using the red/white/yellow cable + adapter provided in the DVR package
->
DVR output to the TV SCART input (AV1), using the multicolour-multiconnector cable provided in the DVR package.
I'm going crazy, with this problem the DVR Station becomes an useless brick. I just can't go plugging/unplugging it everytime i want to take the 604 away with me!.
Having same problem myself & everything is connected as per DVR manual. Have Freeview PVR routed through Archos DVR & as soon as I remove Archos 504 from the DVR station my HD LCD tv changes from Scart-1 to TV. This happens even if I am watching freeview with 504 docked in DVR station on standby. As soon as I remove 504 tv automatically changes from scart-1 to tv. Annoying !! I reckon it must be something to do with the tv itself though. I may try using Scart-2 0r Scart-3 tonight though to see if there is a way round this.
Oh Dear, my 504 is arriving in a day or two and if there are such problems 'll be mighty p%$$ed off.
Is the DVR station powered; could it be that when you remove the archos the dvr gets unpowered hence signal doesn't pass through?
And what happens if my tele doesn't have Scart; my LCD TV doesn't... I'm getting the unit from the US, I think Scart is more prevalent in Europe. What kind of connection do US units have?

It is powered. So that shouldn't be the issue.amk wrote:Oh Dear, my 504 is arriving in a day or two and if there are such problems 'll be mighty p%$$ed off.

US units have composite, svideo, and component video outputs.
I cannot find the Scart cable now but I seem to remember that it had component or RGB input. But if you use the cable in the package connecting to the digital reciever you are using composite. So are you sure you are using the composite signal in the Scart cable?Reppu wrote: digital receiver to the DVR input, using the red/white/yellow cable + adapter provided in the DVR package

How do i find out? I know nothing about video signal types and connectors.tompe wrote:I cannot find the Scart cable now but I seem to remember that it had component or RGB input. There are some strange switching effects in the DVR Station.
I have mine connected up with s-video input and output and separate audio input and output. With this set up my DVR Station will pass on the source s-video signal whether the 504 is docked or not. The only requirement is that the mains adapter is connected and working. Have you checked that it is properly pushed in at the back of the DVR Station?
The other culprit may be the S/W connection to the 3.5mm jack that is included with the SCART cable. Try removing the 504 when this is connected, and then when it is not. It switches output from RGB to component in the scart, and might be blanking your signal....
S-video seems to create another problem however! When you switch between LCD and External TV after docking the 504 onto a switched on DVR Station - everything is OK; but the next time you switch to External TV there is nothing on the screen. I have found a work around by putting my Archos on to the Display Settings Menu and cycling through the video source options Component>RGB>Composite>S-Video. This brings it back on to the TV screen. It's annoying but I can live with it....
Something happened at the last firmware upgrade involving the s-video signal and the composite video connector. I have not found an explanation on this yet, but a lot of users were complaining of getting a black & white picture which usually means an s-video signal being sent to the composite port. Composite will only display the luminance part of the signal and hence the black & white picture.
Hope this helps Reppu

CCTVWorld?
Thanks Orwell - removing the black jack from sw socket at back of DVR station stops tv from switching from AV1 etc to every time you remove 504 from DVR station. Was becoming a little bit of a pain but now all is well.
Anyone else still suffering from this annooyance give a go. I don't think u will be disappointed.
And thanks again Orwell !!!! javascript:emoticon(':D')
Very Happy

Is my problem similar?
I have connected my cable box to the dvr st with a standard 3 pin av connector. From the dvr st to the TV I have again used standar 3 pin av connector that came in the dvr st box. I believe these are composite cable? My unit is American so I don't have scart or s-video cables in the box.
Now the problem is that if I go into the display settings and change any of the settings; NTSC to PAL, widescreen to 4:3/16:9, composite, RGB, etc. etc.... the cable signal pass through stops working, even if I change it back to the original one.
The only way it works again is if I switch off power to the dvr st and take out the 504 from the dvr st, switch power back on and put the 504 back in. Actually I have not tried just taking out and putting back in the 504 or just switching power on/off.
It's not a huge problem but pretty annoying; why does this happen?

Well, i just returned home yesterday for the weekend and i had still the same problem, as expected. Then, still with the 604 out, i unplugged the SW cable, and sort of a magic thing the TV image and sound suddnely appeared ! I could see TV perfectly well.
But listen, i tried and plugged it back...you know what?...the image and sound were still there. I happy that it works fine now but hell i am confused!
Anyway, thanks for the advice.
