Slow boot up

My Archos 2 takes 16.5 seconds from first button press to playing music. Is this normal? My 605 takes only 8 seconds from stand-by and it's a hard drive based unit with a much more complected operating system. I hope Archos comes out with a firmware upgrade for this unit, it could use a lot of improvement. But at least it hasn't crashed.....yet

yep thats about right, i think mine done it in about 14 secs so yours isnt far off, maybe i have less stored on mine.
its not the quickest at booting tbh. yours is fine from the looks of it.

same "issue" here : when i first used it booting time was 2 secs or so.. it seems to rise up as u fill it up with stuff... i'm not even using a gigabyte & already it boots in more than 5 secs... as many stated righteously in this forum : Vivement a new firmware to fix this amongst many other problems !
To see archos dont even list the archos 2 under firmware upgrades isnt encouraging but the fact that many of us here hav different firmwares -mine is xxxxxx.28 the very last i think- should play in our favor.
Tho the fact cant extract manually the firmware from the device is .. weird at least- if not the signal of an unupgradable built-in firmware... we should massmail Archos about this what do u think?
