A bit of a Mind Challenge :)

Post by moshikaffia »

Hello there,
i've connected my av700 to a Disk on key and it works like a charm.
i can play movies, songs, ext.
but here's the thing, let's say i want to create a playlist of some audio files i have on my Disk on key - the problem begins.
as you all know, you can't play a playlist from a usb to go - there for the m3u file needs to be on the av700 device.
also, the files (audio files) are on the disk on key.
therefore, we need to connect the m3u file with the right shortcuts to the files that are located on the disk on key.
now we're getting to the interesting part.
so let's say we create on your desktop a m3u file with the list of all your songs(using notepad offcourse). here's an example:

$/music/kanyeWest.mp3
$/music/blaBla.mp3

that's how the file inside looks like without the $ symbol.
the problem is when the playlist file is on your archos device, how can you make him read the file in the playlist. don't forget that the $ dymbol should be the directory.
i tried putting: a:\music\kanyewest.mp3, and some other more prefixes but without any success.
all you glorious mind, this is a very intersting question.
i'll be more than happy if someone could help me solve it.
after we solve it, you could connect any external usb HDD and enjoy lots of playlists.

hope that we'll figure something out soon :)

Ive been thinking this for a while now... when I got tired of my 30GB on my AV500.... so I carried an 8GB key and after thinking about the playlist problem... I gave up and I just put the music in the key within sub folders organized by genre... also I have ALWAYS used the Queue mode on my archos... and this way I jump from one song to the next with anticipation... (or one folder to the next)

Note that after solving the HDD upgrade on AV500 I was able to put an (still working) 80GB HDD and this solve the USB host for extra music... I now use it only for some extra movies or tv shows... since its faster to put it in the key (less cables)

PS: I also posted that using the USB Host for music or movies directly, will drain your battery almost twice as fast... so if you were expecting 7 hours of movies... then with the key you will probably get 4 maybe 5....
