AV500 Sound problem

Post by garryt »

Hello guys,

Pulled a couple of music vids from utube.
Tried converting to mpeg4 and avi. When played on the pc they are fine, but when dragged onto the archos, the pic is fine, but no sound?? Tried converting with both cinema forge and the inbuilt downloader in firefox, but makes no difference!

Any ideas?
What video files exactly does this recognise?

Thanks

G.

Either convert it in Windows Movie Maker to 320X240 res.... or download the free www.pocketdivxencoder.net
The later is the best encoder for Archos (04 and older) out there...
Ive been able to conver even what shouldnt.... (videos.wmv are not supposed to be open by this but I type *.* and videos are shown, then open then converted)

Its really useful and straight forward... It will tell you what will play and what wont on your archos.... and you can convert the whole file / only vid / only sound...

Neither `divx', nor `avi', nor `mpeg4' specify an _audio_ format. divx and mpeg4 for video encoding formats, and avi is a container format. You need to check your audio settings. The AV500 plays avi files that contain mp3 audio only. Well, actually, pcm audio works too, but nobody uses that because it's too big.

Bascially, check that your converter is set to output mp3 audio to the avi file.

Sorry if I did not explain fully in my previous post... the encoder I wrote, has a section to convert only Audio in the video you are trying to play... and it turns into mp3 from almost whichever (aac, wma, wav) format it was....

I also download videos from youtube in .avi container... and I also had to convert them to play in my AV500....

good luck
