$50 Free Movies A Big Hassle

Archos must really be cheap, I can picture the CEO is like "Pepe LePew".. They give you a code in the package, then you have to go register and get ANOTHER code from somewhere else, and that's where the system breaks down (After they get your registartion) and I guess they hope you'll go away and not actually "cash" the $50 credit.

The REAL purpose of registering is to "start the clock" on the warranty period, so it's not surprising that registering goes smoothly.

After going through all the registration hoops, and never getting the other "redemption code" via e-mail, I tried to contact Archos to "manually" get the code, so far all I got is this e-mail with a dead link. Now I have to get on the phone I guess.

The response sounds "canned", because I didn't order anything through the store. I guess they don't even bother to read the support tickets anymore. "Carolyn M" is probably an "Customer Service Automator HP scanner" that they bought to cut down on labor costs looking for keywords and symbols in the e-mail. The "$" sign and the word "credit" in my service request probably caused an automatic diversion to the store.

Ah, the hell with it, probably the movies are all DRM'ed and suck anyway.
