Directv R22-100 DVR Emitter Codes
Directv R22-100 DVR Emitter Codes
I have an Archos 605 wifi 4GB and a Gen 5 DVR. I'm trying to use the DVR to control my DirecTV R22-100 receiver, but neither of the 2 codes in the most recent firmware work. I've tried all the Hughes, Samsung, and Philips codes. Everything I've researched shows that DirecTV is the actual manufacturer of this receiver.
I've scoured the forums and have tried every suggestion I've read. I'd rather not use the 'autotune' function of the receiver as a workaround, if I can help it. I called Archos Tech Support and their response was, "We don't have any other codes for DirecTV, but I'll send an e-mail so that maybe in future firmwares, it'll be added". I asked him when was the last firmware, and he said, "Oh, it's been a long time...We just haven't had many problems to fix". (They must not read these forums)
Does anyone have this same problem or have any ideas?

Try fiddling with the advanced settings for pre-pending zeros, etc.

Thank you so much for replying...However, can you be more specific? I'm not famililar with what you're referring to. Sorry, I'm still new to this thing.

I don't have my dock, and without its connection, my 605 won't give me the menu to see the settings. If I remember correctly, in the Set Infrared Emitter settings, there is an option to configure additional settings, such as emitter delay and whether to prefix zeros.
Re: Directv R22-100 DVR Emitter Codes
Dock back...
In Settings|TV Control|Set Infrared Emitter, configure for the best match:
TV Receiver
Receiver Brand
Codes
Then click the button, Test Channel Select. Here if you cllick the Manual Settings button, you can also configure,
Codes
Key Delay
...
Leading zeros
Number of Digits
Switches on with
Time until video
Try turning on Leading zeros or tweaking these other settings.

Re: Directv R22-100 DVR Emitter Codes
Thanks Katsiki, I'll give it a try...There's only 2 codes listed for DirecTV, so maybe I'll get lucky. I still can't believe I'm the only one guy in the US who owns an Archos DVR and has DirecTV. I guess if there's others, they either gave up trying or have the answer but are too busy to give advice.

Re: Directv R22-100 DVR Emitter Codes
I have Directv. Sometimes everything works how it should, sometimes it doesn't. I think it all has to do with the location of the dock and the receiver. They need to be able to "communicate". Therefore, I believe an ideal setup would be for them to be facing each other, but I haven't been able to set mine up like that yet. Let me know if you try it.
Re: Directv R22-100 DVR Emitter Codes
yeah, unfortunately I tried about every code that was even remotely related to Directv receivers, based on others' success with older models or different model receivers, and none of them worked. For each of the codes, I placed the DVR/Receiver a few inches apart facing each other, then moved them out a foot and tried again, then faced both of them at a wall, and tried again, but didn't have any success.
Other than manual recording, my only saving grace is that the directv tuner has an autotune function, that will automatically change to the desired channel when you need it to. The archos isn't sending the command, but it still works ok.

Please explain this autotune function. How does that work?
Re: Directv R22-100 DVR Emitter Codes
On some directv receivers, there is an "autotune" option when you click on a show within the Guide. I have 2 receivers, a R22-100 and D12-100. The R22 doesn't do this because it has a built-in DVR, but the D12 does this, as it's a standalone receiver. When you click on a channel for a future show, it lets you select "autotune". When it's time for the show to air, the receiver will change to the selected show, no matter what channel the receiver was previously on.
Since the Archos guide is the same as the Receiver's Guide, I just select the show on the Archos as I normally would and then set it on the DVR. It then records whatever show I set to "autotune" on the receiver.
