Yup, it plays WMA Pro (Inc. DRM), upto 5.1 channel. Does not play lossless, any bitrate over 384Kbps and it says the file is corrupt.

are you sure it wont play lossless? what did you rip it with? i will only get 1 if it plays wma lossless (or flac)

No, it does not support any lossless format except WAV.

Seriously, you won't hear a difference between a 320Kbps MP3 and a lossless file unless you have some seriously good headphones.

WMA Pro is not a lossless format (I don't think the spec even supports lossless), rather it is a new(er) lossy format designed to better compete with AAC in the ability to support surround sound (5.1/ 6.1, etc.) and supposedly better quality encoding at lower bitrates.

i cant listen to mp3 because its just too low quality

t079, What kind of headphones do you have? I have a pair of Shure e2cs (I know, it's not that good), but I personally can't hear much of a difference between mp3s at 192Kbps and the original WAV. I need to listen really closely. Unless you got some Sennheiser HD650s that can really reveal detail, I wouldn't say mp3s are too low quality.

i dont always use headphones but my ears much prefer lossless. somehow wav sounds better than flac to me, but we need a compressed lossless format

It is a psychological effect. I can guarantee you that if I did a blind test you will not tell a difference.

my headphones are nt relevant, its the sound source which is. the sound quality is better with lossless whatever speakers i use (such as my hifi)

If you use these with speakers then it is a completely different thing. Then you do need lossless (unless the speakers are under $500).
