Re: Where to Buy 3G Stick and How Much?

I've been searching where to buy a 3G stick for my Archos, but the only place I've found it is on the Archos website, but no price there ... Does anyone know how much the 3G Stick costs? And best place to get the best price? If you are asking about the original Archos 3G Stick... it only works with...

Re: Cinema Plug-in for G9 Tablets ...

Does anyone have the Cinema Plug-in for G9 tablets? I was wondering if it's really worth spending $14 US dollars .... ??? Are there Free Apps that work just as well? Not sure where you got $14 from? It should be $5 for the MPEG video decoder, and $5 for the AC3 audio decoder... or $10 for both. And...

Re: Terrible WiFi Reception On 80 G9 Turbo Compared To Older

From what I've seen from other places on the Internet... Archos tends to have a large amount of problems with very poor assembly. Photos of the internals I've seen show horribly bad solder connections. Others show antenna cables wrongly positioned so that they got so tightly crimped down that they s...

Re: WiFi conection problem after firmware upgrade to 4.0.26

Oh, thanks a lot, mr "mls", you are very funny! Not sure what you find "funny" about statements of well known facts? What really bothers me though is that I have no idea how, why, who, or what MOD changed the the original title/subject of this thread to read "after firmware upgrade to 4.0.4-28..."?...

Re: Recovery Help

I'll have to give the hubby bad news. I'm not sure that he'll RMA it as this will be the 3rd (I think) that has either crapped out or been sent to us completely blank. I'm really sorry to hear that, but from what I've read in various other forum posts there does seem to be a lot of people that have...

Re: Archos 80 G9 Root help

Although I would kind of like to reply to some of your other comments (maybe someday in the future if I get around to it), for now I'll just respond to the last part(s) of your post: Its not that I prefer to talk about other devices, but rather that there are options within android itself that allow...

Re: Tablet becomes unresponsive

Since it appears you are using one of the 4.0.2x firmwares... When it does not seem to be responding take a look down in the lower right notifications area to see if there are circular arrows indicating that is is "indexing" files. If so, the device will become very slow until that finishes (and the...

Re: Tether Problem with Nokia 5230 and ICS 4.0.5 via Bluetoo

Since I changed to an Android phone, this now works as a WLAN hotspot and can be used for tablet, notebook etc. But the G3 stick is still faster and so the tablet is sharing the internet to the notebook. :-) I'm turning off email notification now. This thread could be closed. While I agree this thr...

Re: Archos 80 G9 Root help

I took a currently available cellphone and selected one option that enabled it to use a 16gb SD card as its primary storage - an option you claimed did not exist in ICS. The end. I've NEVER said it was not possible with ICS on OTHER DEVICES. What I've been saying all along is that so far I've NEVER...

Re: Recovery Help

I'm hoping the gurus here might have some ideas/suggestions. First off, I feel I should mention that there really are no 'guru's here. This is simply a 'user' forum where other users try to help out. Having said that... the 250GB HDD Archos tablets have always been a bit tricky (and, from what I re...

Sorry I miss that... you are in the wrong forum because the 80 Cobalt is NOT actually G9 device.

However, the other information posted in response to your question very likely is still useful to you.

Re: best/easiest way to format an SD card as EXT3 using wind

Actually, most likely none of my damn business, but just exactly WHY do you people need anything formatted to EXT3? I mean, after all, most video movies can be easily converted down to less than the 4GB file size limit of FAT32. So, please post exactly why and what you have a reason for EXT3? And, g...

Re: NFS/CIFS modules?

No, I meant NFS (Sun's Network File System), but thanks for trying. The real goal is to be able to mount shares on my Mac without having to activate Samba sharing on it. Ok, sorry, didn't understand that part of things. I'm not a Mac user. Oddly, many years ago I did actually want to get an Apple c...

Re: Archos 80 G9 Root help

Even though this thread has now gone totally off the original subject, I still find it rather AMUSING... I have 80G9 Tourbo 250GB HDD model. Re: Tether Problem with Nokia 5230 and ICS 4.0.5 via Bluetoo

Why in the heck would anybody ever even want to us Bluetooth for 'tethering' now anymore to start with? It's horribly slow and not of much use unless you absolutely have no other means of connecting through something else to get Internet access. I know that things are a bit different in various coun...

Re: keeps restarting

When in doubt, the VERY FIRST THING TO TRY is... 1) Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to make sure it is totally turned off,. 2) Remove/unplug any and all outside connections. That means pull out any USB, sdcard, and 3G Stick (if you have one). 3) Then connect the USB Charger (not...

I'm running 4.0.28 rooted on my 80 G9 Turbo, and would like to be able to mount NFS shares on it. Is anyone aware of the availability of the required kernel modules? Alternatively, what about installing a kernel that comes with the required support, such as GLADOS 1.34 - is that possible without me...

Re: Extremely Slow Boot-up

I know this is a rather old thread, but just wanted to add my own comments for others... I have a 70b (with Honeycomb), and since it has only a single core 1.2GHz CPU it has always been slow (compared to other higher end devices), but... As for the boot up time, that varies greatly (even on higher e...
