I am having an issue where mine wont charge fully.....90% is the max I can get now....
Has it been determined if the issue is the device or the battery packs themselves?
If the batteries, cant they just send out a new battery versus exchanging for refurbished replacements?

Agree with Frank and FZelle
Windows 95 works "just fine" for some people....but many people want windows 7. (If you are a MAC person insert the appropriate OS names instead)
I am not usually a quick adopter of new OS, but in the case of the android, it is clearly evolving quickly every day and ...

Re: Android upgrade for us?
Sorry.....may have mixed up the names of the version.....
Anyways, the question is, is there any word whether we will move up from whatever we are on now (Froyo?? )
(As an aside, I hate the goofy naming conventions,.....too mac-ish for my taste. LOL....just give me good old fashioned 'versions ...

Re: Cant connect to Internet
Are you sure its not his wifi that is goofy?
Sometimes I see "unsecured" wifi connections and the tablet just keeps trying to connect over and over.....to no avail.
I then take the tablet elsewhere and it connects in first try.

Re: This is ridiculous!
Thanks!
The 300 mb limit for apps installed is one thing I do see as useful for me......
The 3G USB dongle would be good (if I ever decided to splurge and buy that service), but doesnt the 101 already support that?
Not sure if there is much else there that would make a difference in overall ...

Re: This is ridiculous!
So can someone post what improvements one would gain by doing this change?
Will doing this void the Archos warranty?
When you do this, what happens to your current apps and settings ?
When you say you can revert back, how is that done?

Android upgrade for us?
Any chance that Archos will port a newer version of Android to our 101 G8 tablets?
Or are we as far as we will go? I just bought my tablet a couple weeks back and wondering if I should have waited....

Re: Lock for power button?
I found the security /locker in the unit itself....seems to do what you describe, going to try that a while and see what happens...taylorabc wrote:I use WidgetLocker, which makes a lockscreen so if the button is pressed, but the device isn't unlocked, it turns off again.

REALLY poor video playback
I have found that while trying to play online streaming video , the 101 simply performs horribly.
The video starts and stops while the audio plays a little better.....then eventually crashes out of the browser.
What am I doing wrong?
trying sites like mtv.com and youtube

Re: archos 101 firmware ' Cell Standby ' uses 77% idle power
I asked Archos support about the "cell standby" graph that shows the power drain and here is the reply I got:
"This unit doesn't even function off of Cellular Towers. It is likely just the
generic labeling used by Android for the unit's drain of power."
So now I am more confused....... LOL

I have owned my 101 for less than a week.
I did find that there are some bugs -- the most confusing one for me has been the one where you do the firware update thru the unit's menu and it fails every time . Turns out the automatic update is downloading the wrong firmware. Doing a manual install is ...

Lock for power button?
One problem I seem to be having is that the power button is very easily pressed to turn the unit on when in transport in a cocoon bag or briefcase.
Not sure this is the problem for sure but have pulled the tablet out a few times only to find it is turned on, even though I definately turned it off ...

Re: archos 101 firmware ' Cell Standby ' uses 77% idle power
I have the same problem....uses power dreadfully fast, even in airplane mode.
You cant turn off the 3D stuff if its in airplane mode because that mode kills everything anyways.
Its a real pain having to recharge every few hours.

Re: Need help with updating firmware
Ok, figured it out...looks like the update feature in the tablet was downloading the wrong version firmware.
I used the tablet to go to archos's site directly and download it and it seems to have installed fine now.
Took a really long time to reboot.....
Tried Skype again....it works now ...
