Re: My on-screen back/menu/home/search buttons are missing!
I would be interested in causing those buttons to disappear on command. How did this happen for you?
It would be even better if there was an app that made it so that you can hide/unhide those buttons at will. Maybe slide down and up like the notifications bar? If anyone knows a way, please fill us ...

The conversation that happened here was quite useful in showing the niche 43IT nicely filled.

Re: archos 4.3 not startup
We would probably need more information on how this happened to you, or was it out of the blue?
In the worse case scenario, do a complete device reset/wipe.
Start Device and hold down the UP volume to get to the special menu.

Thank you for the inside nitty-gritty and the UI fluidity improvement!bragon wrote:For those wondering about "improved UI fluidity" this means that we found a way to drive the SGX 3D engine at 220MHz instead of 166MHz which boosts the performance up.
Will be aggressively testing!

Good points and advice TMC!
Also from the other comments, wifi has definitely been a great help to make us a little less dependent on these cell phone conglomerate data plans!
Many good posts on this thread, thanks!

Re: Why did you get an ARCHOS Tablet (PDA) and not a Smartph
A lot of people ask me what is that?
I tell them "It's my pocket computer".
It does. Games, Office docs, notes, email, pdf, music, video. And best of all I do not have to charge it every night.
Goes every where I go so I never have to boot the laptop to find information. Or worst yet; go back to ...

The Palm TX! Music to my ears!
It had most of the features that the larger LifeDrive had, but still kept a small form factor! Very nice!
The Bluetooth tethering comes in very handy! (I have a few hiccups with it now, but that's because of my phone. Still, so far WiFi has been more than adequate ...

I'm a bit of a tech-junkie, donap. True, I don't buy every new thing on the market, but I love keeping and using old tech running and enhancing it.

Thank you all of you who have posted already. I see we share common feelings about smartphone cost and use in comparison to having a PDA form factor. And there are some other things I didn't even consider, so thanks for pointing those tidbits out as well!

Why did you get an ARCHOS Tablet (PDA) and not a Smartphone?
Loving my Archos 4.3 so far! Believe it or not, I am still a fan of the true PDA and I still buy parts keeping my modified Palm LifeDrive humming along. The Archos 4.3 is the closest thing I've seen to what a PDA used to be (before it was killed by the Smartphone), besides the iTouch. I'm one of the ...
