The 48it is the same as a 5it 500version only has the 48it no gps. Everything else is the same. If you dont give a crap about GPS then take the 48 because its a lot cheaper. Its a bargain to get 500gb for just 229 euro's

Its impossible that it was 500gb before. I have a 48 500gb and mine is 461GB acording to my pc.

You cant buy extended warranty @ Archos. But the shops where I buy my stuff you can.

When I buy a Archos I always take a extra insurance/service contract. I pay like 5 or 7 euros per month and when something should be wrong I canbring my device to the store. I live in the Netherlands. Are there more people who do that and can you have this kind of service also in other country's?

I just brought my 2,5 year old Archos 605 160gb back to the store for a battery replacement. I always take a service contract/extra insurance when I buy a new Archos. I will get it back in 3 or six weeks. But thats not a problem because I don't use it anymore.

I have the 48 but I dont have these problems. It sometimes says Process system crashed or something like that but it stil keeps running. You can try a full factory reset

I tried my Archos in a Volvo FH 420 (Thats a truck) but even with the Widgetsoid App it didnt work. The signal is to weak I think. Even with the charger on it close to the radio

Nope you cant watch on the normal. It will say that I need to download Flash. But when you go to adobe site to download flash it will say that there is no support for your OS so you cant watch on de normal youtube site.

I dont have any experience with GPS on a Archos but from what i've heard it was crappy on the 5. Probably the reason why they made something without it.

But then I ask myself why is the 48 is so much cheaper than a 5 with gps? Is the gps hardware that expansive?

I didnt run 1.9.26 because I update my archos to 2.0.38 when I fired it up for the first time but Appslib works also shitty on my Tablet 48. My tablet reboots when I click on the icon or it says connection problems. But when its started up correctly I can download and install stuff

The other comment I am going to make is that the people who have had fail-to-start problems on this forum are the people who bought the hard disc model. A spinning hard disc is more likely to be damaged in a portable device. So, if you are careful with your electronics, the 500 GB may work fine. I ...

the 48 has no gps but the rest is so far I know the same as de 5.

And with the accesoires: You can use al the docking stations for the 5 also on the 48!
I have the hdmi dock and also the car mount and they both work. I also have the video plugin

The FM transmitter also works but ...
