There was surely a batch of G9s marked "Turbo" that had 1.2GHz processor and 512MB RAM. I have a G9 80 that is just like that. They were the very first "Turbo" G9s.
Oh I'd love that extra RAM. Makes multitasking / switching between apps so much faster.

Re: Difficulty Closing Tabs in Google Chrome
Yes, same here!
You can confirm it's a problem with archos, by testing with Multitouch Tester in the surrounding areas. It is indeed not as touch-sensitive as the rest of the tablet.
Another thing you could try (but I don't think it has many chances of working) is recalibrating the touch screen.

Re: Dream or future ?
You could still use a USB OTG cable and have MicroSD / hard drive "expansions".
It might not be very elegant, but it would work, wouldn't it?

I truly believe that a Nexus 7 is the device for you!mistofeles wrote:I'm a bit disappointed in Archos.
I was going to buy 80G9 Turbo, but when I read the Tech Specs I found that it doesn't fit to my pocket.
So now I have two options: wait for the 70G9 model or buy something else.

Very happy with 4.0.7, feels faster esp. with the scrolling/UI improvements.
And mostly stable.

I hope you don't mind me asking: does this test firmware include any other bugfixes since 4.0.5?

Unstable. It's such a shame, 4.04 was way better, but not perfect that's sure. Now my G9 101 CRASHES at least 15 times a day. On browser, on play market, on wikipedia, on news republic, on fruit ninja, on video player, on youtube, on and on!

Still Slow and Laggy
Some application or process must be hogging your CPU. I think the devs could do with some more information.
Go to Settings -> Developer Options and enable "Show CPU Usage".

Yes, MTP should work OK most of the time.
Personally I've found that a better alternative is to transfer files via WiFi, using an application such as DavDrive Lite or WiFi File Explorer.

Re: HDMI Mirroring
What I mean by "mirrors to full screen" is when the tablet is connected via hdmi the image on the screen of the tv should match exactly what is displayed on the tablet with no cropped borders down the left and right of the tv screen.

What exactly do you mean "mirrors to full screen"?
What do you mean by "cropped"?
Perhaps you are referring to overscan. If you're not watching videos, you might want to disable your TV's overscan. Most HDTVs have this setting, it's called "1:1 pixel display" or "disable overscan" or something ...

Guys, if you experience sluggish performance in your Archos, try this:
Go to Settings - Developer Options - Show CPU usage.
On the top left you should see which process is clogging the tablet.
For me the djmount process was eating up the CPU in two separate occasions. It has something to do with ...

Downloaded the update, copied to device, rebooted, installed the upgrade.
Hung after upgrading 54 apps at ARCHOS splash.
Powered off.
During boot upgraded 19 more apps, calendar, etc. then booted up normally.
Some apps like email lost my email settings.

Don't forget there is also the option of a 70b. You can read my personal take on this, in the following thread:

hello joey,
disclaimer: i have both Archos G8 70 (froyo) and Archos G9 80.
I was a bit disappointed with the bulkiness and large bezel of the G9 80. The slightly larger screen is nice, but it feels - and is - much heavier than the 70.

In this firmware version, the task switching soft button doesn't work for me. The windows menu doesn't appear at all.
Sometimes it works, but it mostly doesn't.

It's at 1080p so you should have a pretty good view at it.
