I have a archos 70.

I do not use my thumbs to type for the most part - mainly hunt and peck. I do not write novels on the archos, and only send emails on as "as need" basis. Do light browsing though that requires typing.

I do not have a problem with the amount of flash support on the device ...

I am assuming that when you plug in your archos to the PC, you do not see 2 new drives under my computer that you can add files to?

I would suggest trying the latest firmware for sure - download it and share it to your Archos via USB.

On occation mine will state that my video files are not a support format but I have no had this since the latest FW update.

If you CAN wait, I would. There will be a flood of new devices later in the year and if you do not want one of those, the old devices will most likely become cheaper.
