I used the Gen8 101 for over a year and needed a smaller sized tablet that I could use on sardine-packed subway trips.
I totally wanted to get the smaller 1.5GHz Gen 9 device, but Archos didn't have it ready back in December when I was making my purchase.
So I have the Toshiba Thrive 7 instead ...

Re: Acer Iconia A200
Mythos has raised the question that's been on my mind: Which differentiators are important to my next tablet price: CPU, screen, size, weight, RAM, ruggedness, Android version, price?
For the longest time my Archos tablet was relatively so low it completely overrode all of the other considerations ...

A feature of the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich Android OS is the ability to permanently dissable any app, including pre-installed bloatware. So, even if today you can't do what you want, you will be able to in the future.

Re: WiFi (old - WEP) connects & disconnects endlessly
Our house has had issues where one device can't remain connected, but others do. We've found trying a different channel can help. Also, I believe at one point there had been a Gen8 firmware issue regarding higher number wifi channels that were fixed in a firmware patch (I coudl be confusing his with ...

Sweet! Can't wait for 1.5Ghz models to be released. After months of testing Honeycomb tablets with similar specs, we didn't begin our review of the Archos 80 G9 expecting to be blown away. And yet, by the end of our testing period, we had grown rather attached to the thing.

$369 is the price in the US for the Classic 101
That respectfully is "high" for an 8gb, 512mb ram tablet in the US. Especially compared to the already selling A500 and Thrive that have similar connectivity, 8gb more flash, 512mb more ram and can be purchased for close, or less than $369. Archos ...

Re: Archos G9 1.2Ghz October and 1.5Ghz December availabilit
Archos had a great opportunity in North America last year at this time, but could not get much supply. Archos needs to get supply out in large volume by early November, or will lose out again. No point in saying "Archos had a record year last year", since due to their small global share, they have ...

Re: CNET tells readers to skip the Archos Gen 9 tablets!
Several Archos 80 G9 users have posted comments here http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=57161. My takeaway from these users is this device qualifies as a "buy", so I'm chomping at the bit for the 1.5Ghz models.

I've not really seen any of the owners of the tablet here being too upset by the amount of RAM, so who knows maybe 512MB isn't all that bad for HC... I'm anyhow trying to convince myself to wait for the OMAP4460 version, just to be safe, and to see what else will pop up. :-k

Your findings on G9 speed agrees with others, like ArcTablet

What surprises me is the Iconia leaving the other devices in the dust. I didn't think it had that reputation.

Re: I'm worried about Amazon's upcoming tablet
I appreciate the idea that an Amazon Tablet will help to energize the market the same way the iPad did.
In that same vein I'm wondering about the other ways an Amazon tablet could affect the perceptions of the Archos tablets:
For Amazon to reach the desired price point, I think the Kindle Tablet ...
