spend a little money, buy a 14 day subscription to moviedir.com and down load movies or tv shows , choose ipod format or divx for smaller files. movies are between 500 to 1gb.... use 16mb cards..they are a good trade off on size vs money

I use magic dvd coppier set to dixv files or those for ipod.. the mp4 ipod are about 500mb per movie, the divx are 800mb the divx will play back fine on a 46 inch flatscreen..al depends on how many movies you want on your card.

I have used divx format movies for several years..1..they play fine one ther archos 2..they take up 1/4 of the space that mp4's do and they play back fine on my 46 inch home tv.....
I use magic dvd ripper to convert my "own" dvd's (free to try}
or by them from Moviedir.com already in divx format ...

1.buy a hard case for the archos 250..hard drives a suseptible to failure from small drops..the archos forum is full of sad stories of dead hard drives on older models.
2..there is a pc software for verifying sd card true capacity.. it seems the our Asian friends flooded the 32gb market this ...

I have an 8gb unit with a type4 32gb sdmicro card for memory.. Im affraid of both battery drain and hard drive failures on the 250gb units.. Archos does not have a stellar hard drive rep..hard drives in portable units take a beating from movement.and dont last as long as a laptop..the drives are ...

I think that its important to note that ebay has been flooded this year with phoney chinese 32mb cards..You wont know until you go to load the data, the cumputer reads as 32gb but they have been hacked..If it came from china your stuck...
Stick to new egg or amazon... I use 16gb class 6 cards they ...

i use act-1 player and divx movies from moviesdir.com..Ive had very good luck with them..Ive tries the ipad format and they too work. with dsl there downloads are about 2-3 hrs for divx or 1 hr for mp4/ipad.
The act-1 player is better than the standard archos
the divx movies look like dvd quality ...
