Re: Anyone got Dungeon Defenders to work?
The 300 MB of app storage have nothing to do with 256MB RAM/Memory, so that won't help if the issue is the memory.

Re: Power Off confirmation
The A70 just turn off the display when you press the power off button quickly/tap it. tap it again to turn it back on. Holding it down for a few seconds give you that menu that let you power off. Holding it down for 10+ seconds let you force shutdown without confirmation. Maybe you misunderstood tur...

Synchronization app suggestion?
Anyone have recommendations for file synchronization with our device? I want to: - (optional) Mirror the entire root folder (or as many files as possible from there) - Mirror the entire storage folder to back it up - Mirror/Synchronize my Music, and Books folder to/with the device. I'm currently usi...

Re: Archos and large HD
Archos 70 have a 250GB storage space version, and its a Gen 8 product (new).
As an android device, you have a tablet operating system, and can also play mp3s.

I was using hot reboot not realizing lcd density got soft boot too. Thanks. Each app I can uninstall, the more space I have on that tiny 300MB app space...

Re: Essential Apps for your Archos...Post yours
I kinda felt the lcd density changer as semi pointless, when you use a launcher like launcherpro. I tested setting it to 120, 140 and didn't really like it too much.

Re: How does one do a Back up Apps on Gen8?
I think appmonster can backup app, then there are titanium backup, and AppBrain.
With appbrain, you can just make it sync, and reinstall apps after you move the apps from old list to new list through their site.
I like titanium backup because it supposedly let you save system data and app data too.

Re: Never able to re-root my Archos after reboot
I guess I forgot to clean up the cache after I cleared the space. Glad it works for you. Earlier I mentioned reinitializing and I want to confirm that yeah it obviously works after that.

Re: Never able to re-root my Archos after reboot
I just reinitialized the device. Appbrain made it easy to reinstall everything. Same apps running now as I had back then, and I don't know what files z4root put in/install... so no idea why.

Re: Not happy with update
Supposedly the adam OS already have AndroidOS 3.0 features built in. The hardware specs looks very enticing too (dual core, tegra gpu, 1GB ram,). But yeah, wonder what'll happen.

Re: working voip
Relax. I was just honestly wondering about it. I just wanted to avoid people having to pay if they don't have to. I've actually read a bit about it around when I posted. For me there's no reason to use that service which as they say is free 'for now', when I have a more permanently free solution wor...

Re: Just reset the CPU to 1000 MHZ and WOW!
If the notionink really get released soon, you may want to consider it. It should be at preorder stage now. It have 1GB memory, dual core, nvidia tegra gpu... and not underclocked... which theoretically should make the Archos device more a doorstopper in comparison to that. Only saving grace is if t...

Re: Never able to re-root my Archos after reboot
Interesting about the 100Mb thing. I'll try to empty some space and see if that works then. Thanks.
I don't think I'll bother reinitializing until we get permanent root solution.

Nice. I didn't notice the VPN option is built-in. I might set that up later. Thanks!

Re: working voip
Hmm, so why use that rather than the existing Google Voice+SIP provider/app solutions to get free voip? This seems to be rather costly too with front/yearly cost for device? Or does it just require you using an android app and have no cost to call to/receive call from landlines? edit: I see that its...

That's not a big deal though. Slight shake fix it, at least we know its being fixed.
My main interest atm is archos next firmware update, permanent rooting, and custom firmwares. Those will be nice.

Re: Help me please! locked out
Just use any browser (including the one in the android device) to go to appslib site and download it back. As an option there's also that software pack from archos someone linked to, that contain the apks for apps that were originally included in the devices.

That's good, although you can actually skip sip2sip in that way meaning there's no extra service. It'll be ipkall->pbxes->phone instead of ipkall->sip2sip->phone. But yeah, if it works for you as it is, then that's good too. Don't have to use the same methods. I just get perfectionistic about my own...

You might have misunderstood what I said. I was confirming that add2sd won't even move it, so it is where it's installed.
