Re: G8 tablets get ICS

Okay.. Archos, you have till April 31. Then I'm going to confirm what I've always thought. Liar. I really hope to be wrong, but I've been burned.. badly.. many times.

Re: Firmware 2.4.80 released - report bugs here

I'm not risking installing this one since there were so many bad reports on the .65 release. It looks like .80 does not address any of those issues according to the change log:

In this case, I think root refers to the directory that contains Downloads, Videos, and Music. Not the actual root (if you have root access)

Perfect! Thanks. I guess I should have gone back and read that. I didn't remember that being in there.

Re: [GUIDE] Change app space with stock ROM

I've completed this hack and have an approx 2gig appspace with 2.4.19.

Now I'm ready to upgrade to 2.4.65 but I'm wondering if there's a special way I have to upgrade to keep my partitions intact. I am not concerned really about keeping root, as the appspace was all I wanted.

Can someone let me ...

Re: Firmware 2.4.65 released - report bugs here

To clarify.. I am not having reboot loops on 2.4.19.

It'a lockup-reboot after coming out of standby. So you pick up the thing after it's been sitting for a couple hours, click the button.. and then it's unusable for 30 seconds .. then reboots itself. This happens maybe 40-50% of the time.

Anyone ...

Can anyone report whether the autoreboot coming out of standby has been fixed?

I would like to try a full reinitialization but i don't want to lose all my Apps and settings. Is there any software to manage Apps and settings after reloading the firmware? I'd also like to repartitions too, which poses the same questions....

So now that many of us have decided we want the extra storage.... is it possible to do? Or do we have to rely on archos?

Re: New Gen 8 Firmware within 2 weeks

I don't think voiding a hardware warranty because of a software change is entirely legal. You may want to check into that. I think there have been other precedents where the manufacturer has been forced to uphold a hardware warranty despite software modifications.

I tried this out... and had no improvement. Either this means I had nothing wrong with my filesystem, or it simply does nothing more than "clearing cache" would do in APP2SD or Quick Cache Cleaner.

Re: New Gen 8 Firmware within 2 weeks

It can not be worse than barely being able to use it now. Ok, it can be, but I'l go to Archos and throw mine at their building if they make it worse.

Yes. It certainly can get worse. BUT Archos, now more than ever has the chance to win back some of their many many disgruntled customers. I really ...

Re: Power Cycling

I just had this today. My 101 turned itself on at some point during the day, in my backpack, and was at the bootscreen when I found it.

I held the power button to reset it, and got it to turn off, but then it won't turn back on.. presumably because the battery is too dead now.

Thanks Archos ...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here

To revert back farther you need to "hack" it with the SDK, .... using the SDK voids your warranty.

This is not okay, Archos.

This needs to be fixed in a future firmware. I have many devices that have a way of tricking the firmware to allow an older firmware to be applied over a newer firmware ...

Silicone or gel case for Archos 101?

Anyone seen a silicone or gel case for the 101? I want something similar to the gel wrap that I bought for my blackberry for a dollar on ebay.

Re: Blackberry Tethering - SUCCESS

I'm not really sure how.. but my tethering started working.

I'm using 2.1.8 with a blackberry curve 8520.

I had to disable encryption in the blackberry bluetooth settings, and I set Dial up networking and deselected the others. Then paired by blackberry to the tablet and it works!
