Re: I found a review of the Gamepad.
This device is not practical for EA or Gameloft games since all newer games including GTA 3 bust way past 700mb. Also, Jellybean is not apps2sd friendly, so that will not be an option. Based on the build, display and small battery, this device seems designed/priced to be for the emulator crowd ...

Re: News Upcoming on GamePad (also, system moved to November
Archos unfortunately missed the November release date, but with a bunch of announcements and releases, there's supposedly some buzz according to the Archos Facebook page that the GamePad's release date will be announced too.
Re: I got it right here. At least for a few more hours
=NATCH= One of the Taiwan videos showed the SD slot, and it's nice and accessible, so that's good.
Re: I got it right here. At least for a few more hours
Is it tiring to hold in your hands? I have a PlayStation Vita and its arrangement and thinness makes my hands twitch after a few hours of use. Maybe the Archos GamePad's width might fight that, I'm not sure. And how are the buttons, are they sticky or how did they feel? (Also, is there a SD card ...

Re: Archos 48 DVR Station
Whoa, weird. For some reason, I missed both the DVR Station and the " DVR Snap-on " (which is basically a budget version of the DVR Station just for recording, with none of the playback features and no SVIDEO-in.) Not sure how I didn't catch those coming out, I started following Archos sometime ...
Re: Pixel Qi?
Pixel Qi has already been released in over 3 million devices thus far, mostly in the OLPC Laptop project that over 2.5 million children have been using in third world countries for the past 3 years. A dozen military projects use Pixel Qi today because Pixel Qi is the only low power sunlight ...

Re: Archos 48 DVR Station
There's no DVR station for any Archos device after the Gen6 series, sadly. The 48 can't use the older DVR station and Archos appears to be out of this business at the moment so don't expect an accessory to be made available for it.

Re: What should Archos do?
Totally agree about the game player. My problem with buying technology right now is that everything is exactly the same as 50 other products and it's tough to tell how much difference you'd get between the $99 knock-off and the $599 elite product. I've had great experiences with cheap throw-away ...

Re: Archos G9 and wireless HDMI
I think for the uses you're talking about, wireless gaming and presentations and such, wireless HDMI (including the current WiDi standard, which isn't built into any tablets yet anyway) is not yet what you're looking for.
From what I've seen in the wireless HDMI market, the lag is not going to be ...

Will Archos ever venture outside of Tablets again?
For Charbax or any other MODs, I'm curious if you expect to see anything else from Archos besides Tablets for the next few quarters?
Obviously, it's in Archos' best interest to gain a foothold in this rapidly-developing market, but they have in the past explored other device types, and it seems ...

So are the Elements models G10 devices or was that Archos rebranding other devices in the line-up? (It wasn't clear in the product announcement coverage I saw.)Charbax wrote:Archos G10 sizes have not yet been announced!

Re: Archos G10 xs, Archos Elements and Arnova 50Ôé¼ announced
Great technology and hardware implementation here. The only problem is that, as with last generation, I'm worried that there will be too many damned SKUs and not enough clear delineation. If they hold to simply what they have here (the XS as the top-of-the-line laptop replacement/tablet solution ...

Re: Gen9 info
I'm happy with the specs I'm seeing, but I really want to see Pixel Qi or some other form of sunlight-friendly start making it into the talks. That is such a vital consideration of any future portable electronic device I buy. It'll add so much to Archos' portfolio if they put these types of screens ...

but then if they sell these much better products for the same price.. they will be cutting in their own profits because they deliver a system almost as good as the 101 tablet for 100 euros less.. you know what i'm trying to say?

Re: Archos to release high-end tablets late summer!
Eden is just a home replacement. I think all home replacements are bloat, I wish everyone just aim towards vanilla Honeycomb UI from now on.

Re: Archos to release high-end tablets late summer!
Archos is the only one to actually design the hardware and deep software integration.
I would put NotionInk in that category as well. Their chipset is fairly standard, but their Eden interface and cuddly bevel and use of PixelQi screen make all these stock-Honeycomb / matching spec devices from ...
